1. Re: Medal/coin?
Alan Musselman Mar 7, 2007 4:45 PM (in response to jamiemac2005)Matt Stow has a pretty cool medal in the top left corner of his site. Maybe he'd be willing to help ya?

On the ring note question, try using the Donut Autoshape or you need use Compound Path operations such as Punch and Union. (note, this doesnt work on bitmaps) -

ageofem Mar 8, 2007 4:03 AM (in response to jamiemac2005)yeap, alan's ryt, punch , union or any of the modify commands could do the trick. Do you have a picture of the coin your trying to duplicate ? Sometimes using some nifty styles could help you achieve the coin look. -

Newsgroup_User Jul 23, 2007 4:05 PM (in response to jamiemac2005)Here is one way and it makes use of Styles panel
Overview
1 - follow the brownbatterystudio tutorial or download the PNG file.
2 - select object at the foot of the layer stack and remove all
instances of drop shadow in that object
3 - on the object at foot of the layer stack apply a style (Text effect
medium 005 is pretty interesting and Chrome Misc 007 is very interesting)
4 - 0n same object apply a solid shadow filter (adjusting depth to suit)
5 - apply drop shadow
6 - do a CTRL+ALT+F to resize and juggle stuff on the canvas
Use similar techniques on text.
It may help to use layer blend modes or to double up some of the text to
enhance or enrich the effect.
http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1kKMfsVf3UnJ7JsOGKxE2qbkUEBOz0
is an example of the above.
Some of the styles include drop shadow and in the above constructs it
seems a good idea to remove it to retain a brilliance in the image.

Newsgroup_User Jul 24, 2007 9:16 AM (in response to jamiemac2005)Reducing stroke width on the lowermost object seems to do a bit as well.

Newsgroup_User Jul 24, 2007 3:21 PM (in response to jamiemac2005)Multiply blend mode seems to impart a pleasant glassy effect.
Have a look at
