1. Re: Color Variations?
R_Kelly Oct 26, 2013 2:39 PM (in response to jb76006)Unfortunatly color variations was removed in pse 12.
Actually color variations is the same as levels, even uses the same code, color variations just has previews in the dialog.
(Image>Enhance>Adjust Lightning>Levels or Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Levels)
You might also try some of the adjustments under Quick in the pse 12 editor.
I also dislike when adobe removes features, so i understand where your coming from.

Peru Bob Oct 27, 2013 3:38 PM (in response to R_Kelly)That's one of my most used features. I guess that I won't be upgrading any longer until they bring it back.

amazos Nov 1, 2013 3:16 PM (in response to jb76006)Couldn't agree more: Color Variations with it's thumbnail previews was incredibly easy to
use and extremely helpful. I used it so much, maybe I wore it out!
I'm very disappointed with this. I badly want this feature put back.

malcolm bull Jan 26, 2014 3:07 AM (in response to amazos)I have just found out that the "colour variation" function has been deleted from PSE12. I am very disapointed.
I use that function to create Sepia toned images using this easy method http://graphicssoft.about.com/cs/photoshopelements/ht/psesepia.htm
Please put it back. Luckily I still have elements 10 on my PC, so I can switch to that

5. Re: Color Variations?
Georgina Ettridge Aug 7, 2014 5:21 AM (in response to malcolm bull)I totally agree. It's a feature I use a lot. I have recently switched from using a PC with PSE 8 and have now downloaded the trial version of PSE 12 on my mac only to find that one of the features (colour variations) I use the most is missing. I understand that this can be rectified if you are using Windows but it is not possible on the Mac. I am now looking to purchase PSE 11.
If you are using Windows then I understand that there is a way to reload into PSE 12. See these links Pse12 color variation function removed - Elements Village and Re: Give me back my Color Variations!
This doesn't help me but hope it helps you. I won't be purchasing any further additions until they bring that feature back!

dyscrasia Oct 2, 2014 9:17 AM (in response to jb76006)I also am profoundly dissappointed that they took variations out. It is just like the darkroom tool and the preview made it easy to use. I am a Mac user and now must stay with CS5... or I can't have the tool...

Hammer010 Oct 5, 2014 4:44 AM (in response to jb76006)Does anyone have PSE 13 for the MAC and know if it has color variations?

8. Re: Color Variations?
Barbara B. Oct 5, 2014 9:17 AM (in response to Hammer010)Color Variations is gone from all versions, all platforms of PSE starting with PSE 12, so no, it doesn't have color variations.

9. Re: Color Variations?
amazos Oct 5, 2014 10:23 AM (in response to Barbara B.)That’s really too bad. It would be nice if Adobe actually explained
exactly WHY seemingly popular features like the elegantly simple “Colour
Variations”, are removed - especially when there isn’t a suitable
alternative.
Thanks, Barbara – you always respond so quickly. J

10. Re: Color Variations?
Barbara B. Oct 5, 2014 10:29 AM (in response to amazos)You're welcome. FWIW, adobe said it was removed along with several other features as part of the move to 64 bit programs.

amazos Oct 5, 2014 10:45 AM (in response to Barbara B.)Yeah, I know, but I was hoping for a satisfying explanation. I guess I’m
just not computer literate enough to understand how the 64-bit move affects
these things.
