1. Re: Can I save a project to external drive that I am still working on?
John T Smith Aug 9, 2014 7:35 AM (in response to ruez30)Your project file itself does not use much space, but your media files a working "cache" files DO take a lot of space
Moving your media files means you have to re-link everything when you open the project... which is "usually" a fairly painless process
The other thing you need to do, when you create a project, is manually set all of your cache files to the drive with more space... read Drive C space http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1007934?tstart=0 and adjust your settings accordingly (reply 4) and delete the cache files on your boot drive so they re-create on your external

3. Re: Can I save a project to external drive that I am still working on?
ruez30 Aug 9, 2014 9:27 AM (in response to ruez30)Thanks for your response John. So in your opinion, I could move the media files for project 2 to the external drive and "should" be able to relink them when the time comes? After I move them do I change the settings of project 2 to external drive, so that any further work will be saved there? I guess the worst case scenario would be, is that I would have to re start the whole project again IF I can't relink it. If I have a lot of text (no folder, of course learning a LOT from this mistake!) should I make a folder of text and send it to the external too?
Kind of new to Adobe (can you tell?) (coming from FC)
One more question, that you might be able to help me with is, I am on a Mac and using a disk sweeper have noticed there appears to be MANY files in my cache that I could dump to get space back, BUT I am not sure WHAT they are, so I don't dare...hmm any ideas how to tell what those files are related too?
Thanks again!
