I cannot install latest FlashPlayer

I cannot install latest Flash player on my MacBook (early 2008) running MacOS X Lion 10.7.5.  I download installer, click on it and the window Adobe Flash Player Installer appears but hangs on "Retrieving install…………………0%"  After 5 minutes "Error has been encountered. Close this window and try downloading again" appears.  I have tried repeatedly to no avail.  I have deleted all files with "Flash" in the name to see if this helped - no luck.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

Use http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player_osx.dmg
