Search text fails in Digital Editions 3.0 if document is encoded as PDF

I installed Adobe Digital Editions 3.0 and attempted to do a text search. I found that if the document was encoded as ePub, the search worked fine. If the documented was encoded as PDF, the search fails. Is anyone else having this problem?
