Flash Player Continuously Needs To Be Reinstalled

I cannot count the number of Flash Player crash reports I've submitted. It has to be over 1000!
I now have to uninstall then reinstall Flash Player at least 3 times daily. There is something drastically wrong with this player.

Does anyone pay attention to the crash reports?

I generally love adobe products and was a flash content developer nearly a decade ago. Now it's total garbage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've branched your post off to a unique discussion so that we can help you get it resolved.  The behavior you're describing is not normal, nor widespread.

Some basic information about your system would be helpful:

Operating System and Version

Browser and Version

Flash Player Version

Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware/Software Firewall/Capture Flash Video plug-ins and versions

Is this an IT-managed laptop issued by your employer or might otherwise have non-standard group security policies?

Can you describe the behavior that leads you to need to re-install?  Please be as specific as possible.

If the crashes are specific to certain websites or content, direct links and step-by-step instructions for reproducing the problem would be very valuable.

If you're using Firefox, please submit a few of the recent crash reports, and share the links with me.  They're generally pretty informative.

To do this, do the following:

In the address bar, type: about:crashes

You'll see a list of links with upper-case hashes.

Click one (or right-click and open in new tab) and it will submit the report to Firefox.  You don't really need to wait for it to process.

The link will change to another hash, and will start with "bp-"

Right click that link and choose Copy Link Location

Paste a few of those in a reply here.

The contents of the following pages would also be helpful (you can just copy/paste them into a reply here):

about:support

about:plugins

If the crashes are specific to Video or 3D games, try disabling hardware acceleration.  If the crashes go away, we should look at your graphics driver information to see if a more current driver will help.

To do this, do the following:

Right-Click on some Flash content

Choose Settings

Click the Left-Most tab

Uncheck Use Hardware Acceleration

Reload the page.

If none of those things work, try blowing away all of the stored Flash data, by doing the following:

Launch Settings/Control Panel > Flash Player

Click Advanced

Under Browser Settings and Data, choose Delete All

Click the Storage Tab

Click Delete All

Okay, that should get us pretty close to identifying the root-cause.

Thanks for replying. After sending literally hundreds of crash reports this is a step in the right direction.

I just discovered the turning off hardware acceleration a couple days ago. I did that. I'm using Beta 15.

I'll try your next suggestions as soon as I'm able.

This problem is far more widespread than you may imagine. I've talked to may users having the same difficulties.

After disabling Hardware Acceleration, are your issues resolved, or are you still encountering a situation where you need to reinstall continuously?

They are resolved for a short time. Usually hours. Then reintall is required.

But I still don't understand why you're making the decision to reinstall.  Is something happening that indicates to you that the binary has been corrupted?  My working theory is that something (most likely the GPU drivers) are getting into a bad state, and rebooting would have the same effect.  Anyway, looking forward to the details I asked for above.  Looks like you're on your phone, so you're probably not home, but I'll try and get back to you this weekend if I see a response come in with details.

I reinstall because if I encounter a video I get the Flash crash report screen. Refreshing the page does not fix the problem. Shutting down the browser and restarting that ( usually Firefox, less often Chrome ) doesn't fix it either. I do have a lot of software installed since I'm a video editor. Reinstalling Flash, ( because I've done it literally hundreds of times ) is easier than rebooting.
FYI when Flash player crashes the browser seems to "glitch" ever 2-3 seconds like it's trying to reload something. I have 3 relatively new machines. A desktop with Win 7. Another with WIn 8 and a notebook with Win 7. The all have different Video cards. If hardware acceleration is disabled whey would the GPU be an issue? Just asking. I don't know.
Thanks again for replying.

I am also getting the same exact problem. It only started today, any page that I open that requires flash always 100% of the time says "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed, Reload the page and try again." I have reinstalled and done everything to try to make it work and nothing has. On my plugin update page it shows my flash plugin as fully updated. I have sent probably over 15 crash reports today, and only a few amount because I am tired of constantly seeing the crash page without it ever working. Everything was working fine until today.

I really need the detailed information I asked for towards the top of this thread if you'd like me to actually do something useful.  If you just want to vent, that's cool, but it's not going to help me get the problem fixed.

For your convenience, here's the list again:

Also I tried disabling the hardware acceleration, but when I right click on a flash content, it didn't give me any option for settings, so I don't know how to go about doing that. Hope this info helps.

I've had this problem for well over a year. Maybe a couple. Sometimes a new Crash version comes out and the problem disappears for a day or two. A week at the most. Lately it 3 -5 reinstalls a day! I'm really tired of it.

Jeremy, at the moment after a reinstall several hours ago it's working properly. But please trust me. There are days it happen up to 5 times a day with reinstalls.
Going to Beta 15 seemed to help quite a bit. I was running that for nearly a week before it crashed. V14 was awful and so was almost everything between V 10 and V 13.
I try to get as much info that you requested.

Typed "about crashes"

Here's one of the many: Don't know if you can access the link?

We crossed posts, those links are exactly what I'm looking for.  If you have a bunch, can you give me a few?  I'd like to see if it's consistent, or if it's crashing all over the place.

The first crash signature (F1776344327) is the most interesting, but it's super rare.  The second crash (F1398665248) is just the generic "Flash went away unexpectedly" signature.  It happens for a whole list of reasons, but most commonly because some inter-process communication between Flash and Firefox has detected a hang after 30 seconds, or we've run out of memory or decided that something that the content has asked the VM to do looks like might be malicious, and we pulled the emergency stop instead of trying to risk it and continue.

I'd really like if you could provide the content of about:support and about:plugins.

Thanks,

Jeromie
