1. Re: I exported a pdf file to word but i can't edit
Sara.Forsberg Aug 5, 2014 11:30 AM (in response to hc69)Hi hc69,
You're most likely doing nothing wrong! For starters, please try triple-clicking in the text that you want to edit in Word.
If that doesn't work, it may be that the PDF was created from a scanned page, and that OCR (optical character recognition) wasn't performed on that PDF to convert the scanned/image text to selectable/editable text. OCR is enabled by default when you convert via the ExportPDF website, but can be disabled in Reader. Please see How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community to make sure OCR is enabled.
Let's start there. If neither of those solutions work, we can take it from there.

Sara.Forsberg Aug 10, 2014 4:11 PM (in response to mickeygs)Hi mickeygs,
What happens when you try to edit the file in Word? Does it seem as though the text is being treated as an image? Do you know how the original PDF was created?
Best,

4. Re: I exported a pdf file to word but i can't edit
mickeygs Aug 10, 2014 4:46 PM (in response to Sara.Forsberg)i can enter some data, but it does not line up properly. info that's on the
supplied file is shifted to the left; other info can't be entered. the
supplied pdf is an invoice form that I'm trying to do for someone.

Sara.Forsberg Aug 11, 2014 10:39 AM (in response to mickeygs)Hi there,
It's starting to sound like the PDF that you converted to Word may not have been a well-formed PDF. Do you know how that PDF was created? For example, was it created from a scanned page, or was it created using anything other than Acrobat? I'm happy to take a look at the file for you, if you'd like. Let me know, and I'll send you my email address in a private message.

6. Re: I exported a pdf file to word but i can't edit
mickeygs Aug 16, 2014 9:00 AM (in response to Sara.Forsberg)it is an invoice that i think was scanned as a pdf and then emailed to me.
when i export the pdf to word using the adobe pdf export system that i
purchased from Adobe, the file will open but i cannot line up new data or
edit it properly and professionally. i'm beginning to think this pdf export
file is not going to work and may need to get a refund unless you can let
me know how i can make this work. i'm not going to spend a lot of
additional time or money on this.
