1. Re: Does InDesign CS3 work on Mac OS X Lion?
BobLevine Aug 15, 2014 9:50 AM (in response to cgguven)I don't think CS3 is supported on anything later than 10.6.8

3. Re: Does InDesign CS3 work on Mac OS X Lion?
cgguven Aug 15, 2014 1:44 PM (in response to RickGroff)Do you have any idea why I might be having issues? Where can I get help? Adobe cannot provide solutions and I cannot get any help on this forum and I don't know what else to do.

4. Re: Does InDesign CS3 work on Mac OS X Lion?
cgguven Aug 15, 2014 6:59 PM (in response to RickGroff)I don't get it because I received replies saying that Lion is not compatible with CS3 (see official link below) and that this issue only exists with Mac OS but all CS versions (from 1 to 6) run on the same (old) Win OS.

Are there any experts/technicians on the forum?
Adobe Customer Service told me to seek help here but I cannot get any help.

5. Re: Does InDesign CS3 work on Mac OS X Lion?
P Spier Aug 16, 2014 4:10 AM (in response to cgguven)You won't get any kind of official statement that CS3 works on Lion, but Rick says he has it running, so there is potential. The problem you face is there was no testing or program modification for CS3 in order to run on Lion, so you're on your own (with any help you might find here from someone who is successfully doing what you want to do). Your problems are most likely due to some other software you also have installed.
As to why Windows has better OS backward compatibility than Mac, that's a difference in corporate philosophy -- Microsoft has a larger enterprise-scale customer base and they want programs to continue to run, and they're more likely to vote with their wallets.

cgguven Aug 16, 2014 12:53 PM (in response to P Spier)I understand it, and this is why I'm here for, but where is that "help"?

7. Re: Does InDesign CS3 work on Mac OS X Lion?
P Spier Aug 16, 2014 1:03 PM (in response to cgguven)You just have to be patient and hope for the best. I expect there are not a lot of users who have tried to run CS3 on Lion.
Do you have a crash report? Unexpectedly Quit covers a lot of territory.

8. Re: Does InDesign CS3 work on Mac OS X Lion?
rob day Aug 17, 2014 4:56 AM (in response to cgguven)I also have it installed on an older MacPro running 10.7.5. Don't use it for production so can't say how reliable it is, but it launches. Have you tried the obvious and trashed the preferences folder? Do you have any third party plugins running? Might also try deactivating all but the required fonts.

cgguven Aug 18, 2014 10:08 AM (in response to P Spier)Thanks Peter, yes, I have a crash report. How can I find Quit?

10. Re: Does InDesign CS3 work on Mac OS X Lion?
cgguven Aug 18, 2014 10:11 AM (in response to rob day)Thanks Rob, no, I'm not even aware of the obvious. Could you please explain how I can tracy the preferences folder? I don't have any third party plugins but have extra fonts which I will try to deactivate now.
