Folio Preview Error with Vertical Articles

    Arrow'd Community Member

I'm attempting to build a basic folio.

I keep getting a preview error when I attempt to preview it on an iPad.

After several rounds of trial and error I created a brand new folio, allegedly with both a portrait and landscape orientation.

If I load a landscape article, it works as expected.

If I load a portrait article it throws the dreaded preview error.

      Here's the particulars:

      • InDesign CS6 (8.0.1)
      • Mac OSX (10.8.5)
      • Dual orientation folio, containing—
      • One, single-page article (standard 1024x768, in vertical layout)

I have rebuilt both the folio and the article page probably 6 times in the last three days trying to isolate this problem.

      Apparently I'm missing something.

      Anyone have any recommendations?

If you are doing preview from Folio Builder Panel you *must* have both a portrait and a landscape version of the article in the folio when you've selected dual orientation otherwise you'll get that error. If you use preview from the Folio Overlays panel it will just preview the open document and whatever your folio is set to doesn't matter.

Having typed all that... don't make a dual-orientation folio. It doubles your design time, almost doubles your folio size, and provides no benefit to your reader. Pick one orientation and design for that.
