I am using Robohelp 9. I have generated the primary layout and when I select to view the primary layout the screen just flashes and nothing appears. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Lisa

The question was how rather than where. Did you type the same information into both the title and the body or paste it from one to the other, or has the forum copied it from one to the other?

Sorry to pursue this but I am trying to get to the bottom of why suddenly we are seeing this problem from a number of people.

I typed the question in the body only not the title.  I think this will

answer your question.  If not, please let me know.

Can you offer an insight as to why I am not able to view the primary

layout?  The screen just flickers when I select to view the primary

layout.

If you only type in the body, the forum forces you to enter a title. Did you perhaps put all that information into a search first?

Did the help generate OK and not throw any error messages? The problem is when you try to view it?

Have you been using dual monitors and now switched to one?

Did you generate from the Single Source Layout pod or from the menu?

What is your primary layout? WebHelp, CHM etc.

You are right the forum did force me to put in a title, but for the title

I put Robohelp 9 Question, or something like that.  I did not put the full

question in the title I know that for sure.

I used the icon (Generate Primary Layout)  No error messages display. Then

I select the View Primary Layout icon.  I am only using one monitor.  The

primary layout is webhelp.  I did generate a .CHM file and the same thing

happens if I try to view it.  It just flashes.

Try generating the webhelp from the SSL pod and see what happens there. Let me know.

The reason I am pursuing this is that these long titles render the search less effective and that does not help people like you in future. Finally, what browser are you using?

I tried to generate as you suggested From SSL pod and the same flashing is

happening.  I am using IE 8, which I know is outdated, but the software I

write for has to run on IE8.  Do you think that could be the problem?

Create a new project with just a couple of topics. Same there?

Alternatively, try one of the sample projects. Click Open on the RoboHelp Starter page and then click Samples in the ribbon on the left.

"Why" is what I am trying to get to the bottom of. It is a step by step process.

Please confirm the generation process does run through and appears to be OK, it is only when you click View that it fails to open.

I am not inclined to the IE8 theory as I think it would do more than just flash. Are you able to view in another browser?

Not sure if this information will help or not, but when I open the HTML

(CHM) help I can see the contents on the left side of the screen, but if I

try to click on the topic the middle of the page says " Navigation to

webpage was cancelled"  I get the confirmation massage that the webhelp

file was built successfully when I compile it.

The forums are 24/7/365.

I think you may just have identified the problem. Are you generating to a local drive or, as I suspect, a network drive.

Generate locally and see if that fixes it.

Unfortunatley that was not the answer.  I had no problem viewing the

documents before on the network only recently.  Do you have any insight

into why I would be getting the message Navigation to webpage was

Are you saying your project and the folder to which you generate are on a server? If the answer to either is yes, then Rh9 was not designed to work that way.

If you are saying you generate to a local folder and then copy to a server, that is the correct workflow. In that case, then it is likely browser compatibility is the problem. That is why I have asked you to test in another browser.

Maybe it did work before but it isn't now so we have to eliminate things, one by one.
