SR2020 Aug 9, 2014 12:34 PM (in response to SR2020)I've deleted all cache files multiple times. Cleared preview files. Opened both Premiere and Encoder while holding down shift and nothing changes. I can't export the videos at all.

JesseSchluntz Aug 9, 2014 1:37 PM (in response to SR2020)Sorry to hear SR2020, but you're on the wrong forum. This is for users of the new Mac Pro and for a specific issue with horizontal lines.

3MOTION Aug 10, 2014 11:21 AM (in response to Kevin Monahan)Hello Kevin,
I still have the problem.
On prores HQ, LT, files coming from CinemaDNG files.
On Prores HQ files coming from Atomos Samurai Blade.
No problem with Gopro footage...
Is there any hope that the GPU (D700) will be supported soon? I can't justify anymore to have spent money for GPU power that is unusable.
Should I ask a complete refund to Apple and move to PC?
What are Adobe plans to compensate users that pay every months for a program that is barely compatible with the new Mac Pros?
We are 6 months into the same problem.
Am I the only one that still has the problem?
Is the beta of OS Yosemite works with Premiere, Encoder 2014 CC?
I have the desire of using my machine and stopping relying on a laptop for exports. I'm ready to use Yosemite beta if it allows me to use the GPU.
Apple support told me that all of this is Adobe problem, so I'm asking here. I hope that there is dialogue between Adobe and Apple, because 6 months is a lot.
Sorry to ask all this questions but half a year of business was compromised, I hope to be able to work normally for what's left of the year.
Please give me a solution to be able to work properly, I need to trust the software for my exports and for my clients!
I need help, real help!
Thanks,
Emmanuel Albano

405. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
Derjis Aug 10, 2014 11:50 AM (in response to 3MOTION)Unfortunately, it sounds like the only real 100%-for-sure fix is to not use the new Mac Pro. If you don't need a machine with a lot of power, you can switch to an iMac, or a late-model MacPro tower; if you want something with hyped-up specs, you might be better moving to a custom-built PC. The plus is that CC is cross-platform, so you can easily bounce all of your projects back-and-forth between Mac and PC.
Kevin, I'd like to second Emmanuel's request for some sort of official compensation mechanism from Adobe; I think it's more than fair that you guys offer some sort of recompense for downtime, or for periods when your software is unusable. If Emmanuel and the others on this thread have been unable to use your software for 6 months, while they wait for a fix, it's not unreasonable to expect that their subscription be extended by 6 months, free of charge. To be clear, I don't even have a horse in this particular race... We got lucky; one of our seats was down for two weeks at most before the 10.9.4 fix was released (10.9.4 seems to have solved the issue in our case). That's not to say we haven't had long bouts of downtime with OTHER bugs, like the Canon MXF spanning issue with PPro 7, for example, or the myriad of other Adobe Creative Cloud issues we've had to deal with...

406. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
JesseSchluntz Aug 10, 2014 1:23 PM (in response to Derjis)Update on my saga:
The apple store wiped my Mac Pro and handed it back with a freshly installed OS. I loaded up premjere CC 2014 and edited on it for a few days, then finally had to render something yesterday. The random green lines appeared almost immediately. This eliminates software from my possible issues.
My apple store is now going to replace my graphics cards. If this fixes the issue, it's been a matter of me having bad cards all along. If not, they will request a new computer for me.
Until next time...

wedgmedia Aug 16, 2014 1:47 PM (in response to outsider14)All of this discussion... green flashes and black flickering... dropped frames and I've experienced this on a new MacbookPro. Will attempt the fix of turning off OpenCL and render again. We just made the move to Creative Cloud and we were so excited to be moving up to a more robust editing/ video production system and now this! My due date is looming for my video project and I've got to get a video that doesn't have any artifacts in it! We'll see...

ChadRHorn Aug 17, 2014 1:22 PM (in response to Kevin Monahan)Reformatted the hard drive, reinstalled the OS, reinstalled Creative Cloud and nothing else.
Still having horizontal artifacting and lines in hardware based OpenCL exports. Software exports are fine, but obviously slow.
Right in the middle of political editing season...

wedgmedia wrote:

That sounds like a completely different problem than the one this thread is discussing. First of all, this is about artifacts on exports with dual GPUs in the new Mac Pro (not MacBook Pro) when using hardware acceleration.

Make sure you are running OS X 10.9.4, first of all. I would recommend to see if it works as expected with OpenCL acceleration set to Software Only. Also, check to see if you have not mistakenly installed CUDA drivers on your system with OpenCL GPUs: Avoid installing NVIDIA CUDA drivers on computers with AMD GPUs
Also delete Media Cache Preview files, clean the Media Cache Database (in Preferences > Memory), and repair permissions with Disk Utility. Also, make sure that your permissions are not set to "Read Only." fixing permissions problem that impedes start of Adobe applications | After Effects region of interest
Feel free to start your own post, if you like.

412. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
Derjis Aug 25, 2014 10:15 AM (in response to Boru)This is in no way a solution to the actual problem, but if you still have CC or CS6 kicking around, can you edit the project file to make it compatible with previous versions, and finish the project in an older copy of Premiere? I haven't tried it myself, but there are details here:

413. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
Boru Aug 25, 2014 10:21 AM (in response to Derjis)No CS6 here I came from different NLE.

414. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
Derjis Aug 25, 2014 10:27 AM (in response to Boru)Don't have it in front of me, but I think that with a CC membership, you have access to installers dating back to CS6 via the CC Installer app. Something about scrolling down the list, changing a filter to "Previous Versions", and installing from there. I had to install PPro CS6 a few months back in order to get a copy of Encore on my system. Arg. Don't get me started on Adobe's handling of Encore....

ChadRHorn Aug 25, 2014 10:41 AM (in response to Boru)Boru, your problem is very different from the ones being discussed in this thread. It sounds like your machine is screwed up, or your install is screwed up. May want to do a fresh install of the OS and Creative Cloud or take your machine in for service.

417. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
ChadRHorn Aug 25, 2014 10:42 AM (in response to Kevin Monahan)Taking it into my local Apple dealer tomorrow. We shall see.
Ultimately everything works fine EXCEPT for exports having the stray artifacts during hardware exports. Software exports are clean, just slow.
Since so few people are posting I have to believe that the original video cards Apple shipped were probably not entirely up to snuff or something.

418. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
Derjis Aug 25, 2014 10:42 AM (in response to Boru)It's kind of a stupid workaround anyway, since it involves modifying the project file in a text editor...

I guess tomorrow I have to do a fresh install of PP CC.
Any advice on the best way to fresh install PP CC?

422. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
CHCHK Sep 7, 2014 9:06 PM (in response to JesseSchluntz)I'd had some luck since updating to OSX 10.9.4 on a 2013 Mac Pro - the random thin lines on ProRes exports from Pr CC 2014 seemed to have gone away.
Today however the problem is back. The only difference is I installed FCPX and the ProApps update a few days ago to get ProRes export from RedCine.
Maybe there is a conflict there? Either way, I'm running the latest Pr CC and 10.9.4 and need a fix ASAP. I need ProRes exports to be rock solid for my
workflow.

JesseSchluntz Sep 8, 2014 8:23 AM (in response to CHCHK)I Was planning to wait a week before posting anything but here it is. Apple replaced my graphics cards and so far nothing but clean renders & previews. I'll confirm whether this for sure fixed the issue in a week of so but thus far it seems my suspicion from months ago was correct.

424. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
ChadRHorn Sep 8, 2014 9:19 AM (in response to JesseSchluntz)Oh good. Fingers crossed for me then. Apple only agreed to replace one of the cards, the second one apparently. I guess they've heard from a bunch of people with this same issue at this point and know which card is the trouble maker?
-
425. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
JesseSchluntz Sep 8, 2014 9:51 AM (in response to ChadRHorn)Again, I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch, but if this works you should DEFINITELY get both your cards replaced. Point them to this thread. I did, and that's what got me this far.
We on this forum have known for months that disabling the cards eliminated the issue, but have been strung along by various tech support agents telling me to wait for software fixes, all the while thinking the solution had to be an obvious hardware issue. Plus there are people saying "we can't replicate this issue on our machine". Seemed like very simple math with this of us having the issue (render+cards=issues / render-cards=no issue just very slow). I have a feeling I may have been right, but am leaving room to be wrong.
Will post again in a week.

426. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
JesseSchluntz Sep 18, 2014 10:53 AM (in response to JesseSchluntz)Bad news people. After getting my new graphics cards, my computer worked perfectly for just over a week. All renders clean. Did an entire project with no hiccups. Yesterday while rendering a rough edit for a client, I got the lines again, all over the place, this time in white. They also appeared when I did a simple prores to h.264 compression for a surf footage reel. I'm sending the attached screenshots to the person at the local Apple store who's been helping me out, and requesting a new computer altogether.

CHCHK Oct 9, 2014 7:58 PM (in response to JesseSchluntz)Damn, just updated to Premiere Pro CC 8.1 and the line are back on ProRes export. Surely this is reproducible by Adobe - MacPro 2013 D700 running 10.9.4 and Premiere.
It needs to be fixed ASAP.
-
430. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
JesseSchluntz Oct 9, 2014 8:13 PM (in response to CHCHK)UPDATE FROM THE GUY WHO STARTED THIS WHOLE THREAD -
See entry #426 for Apple's latest attempt at fixing my issue. A good effort, but alas, no fix.
Apple is replacing my Mac Pro's logic board and ram on the 20th of this month. If the problem still manifests, they're going to give me a new computer.
I'm able to use my Mac Pro to edit fast, which is awesome, but cannot render previews in the Premiere timeline, export video from Premiere, or export video via AME without my graphics cards turned off to avoid the random horizontal lines.
For those of you who are still trying to get answers from Adobe, STOP. Don't waste your time on this forum or any other. Your problem is not software-based. I've had the same mac pro with the same issues since they first shipped earlier this year. I've done every conceivable upgrade, Apple has wiped my HD clean, my graphics cards have been replaced, and now this step. I can almost guarantee you will find no fix to this issue short of major hardware replacement. There is something in the bowels of my system that refuses to cooperate with my Premiere/AME software and it's looking to come down to a total replacement.
So stop typing, stop searching, and start talking to your Apple store team about a real fix. You'll have to dive through a ton of hoops to get there (they won't replace your unit without being certain a few new parts can't fix it... which worked for me for about a week), but thats the only route I'm sure of at this point.

431. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
CHCHK Oct 10, 2014 12:16 AM (in response to JesseSchluntz)A lot of people are having exactly the same issue on quite a number of new MacPro's - that must mean if it's a hardware fault, then it's very, very specific hardware fault, identical on all machines. Surely software fault is more likely? Any word from Adobe lately on this?
Anyway, hopefully your new machine gives you better luck
Meanwhile a total Media Cache deletion and disk permissions repair has given me two clean 80min exports.... for now.

432. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
JesseSchluntz Oct 10, 2014 10:02 AM (in response to CHCHK)Again, no amount of software cleansing/rebuilding helped my issue. You'll find scores of entries on this thread by people who do an upgrade or something (OS/Premiere/Etc), declare their problem is fixed, then several days later have the same issue again. The only confirmed fix (somewhere in this thread) was a guy who had his whole machine replaced.
My issue seemed extremely clear-cut. When I don't use my graphics cards, rendering works. When I do, it doesn't. I got new cards, then the issue came back a week later with white & black instead of green & black lines.
I don't claim to know for sure what the answer is, but what I do know is it's crazy to have an issue like this with no fix after over 7 months

433. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
Boru Oct 10, 2014 10:14 AM (in response to JesseSchluntz)Jesse,
Wow, I am very sorry to hear you are still having the same problem. Since I went to 10.9.4 and did a clean install of OS and all other software I have been 98% fine. There are times when the software slows and I feel a crash coming. I save exit and open again and I am ok.
I wish I had more ways to help since I know how frustrating it can be when the software we use for our jobs does not work.

Boru Oct 13, 2014 7:21 AM (in response to Boru)Well Jesse,
I spoke too soon. Just rendered out my latest show for a client and it has horizontal white lines all through out the show. Not a happy client.
I am still running 8.0.1 (21) Build. Not about to update the software during a project. So I have no idea if the update helps this or creates more problems.

Kevin Monahan Oct 13, 2014 9:14 AM (in response to Boru)Hi Boru,

Thanks,

Boru Oct 13, 2014 9:21 AM (in response to Kevin Monahan)Kevin,
Yes, I am OS 10.9.4.
PP CC 8.0.1 (21) Build
So it is not the upgrade in PP CC you want me to do it is my OS? I do not think it is good to upgrade anything mid project, not knowing all the other problems it could bring.
-
437. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
TCmotion Oct 13, 2014 9:34 AM (in response to Boru)Upgrading to 10.9.5 was what finally killed the bug for me, and it's been rock-solid (or at least as solid as it's been) since. I was hesitant to do the upgrade since I was mid project when it came out, but the line issue was just killing me, so I figured it couldn't get much worse.
Do you have a second computer or anything you can test it on first? Even if not, as long as you have a current, verified backup that you could roll back to just in case, I'd recommend doing it. I'm still waiting to do the latest CC update to make sure it's safe, but 10.9.5 worked great.
-
438. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
Boru Oct 13, 2014 9:39 AM (in response to TCmotion)TCMotion,
Thanks for your input, very much appreciated.
Nice to know you are still on PP CC 8.0.1 (21) Build and upgrade to 10.9.5 got rid of the horizontal lines. Maybe at the end of the day I will do the upgrade to 10.9.5. The last upgrade made a huge improvement so maybe this was one more step in the right direction.

439. Re: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
JesseSchluntz Oct 13, 2014 9:50 AM (in response to TCmotion)TCmotion :
So you had the same bug, updated to 10.9.5, and now zero issues, correct? For how long? I ask because I'm extremely fatigued by posts claiming "this update fixed the problem!", only to hear later it came back. Just curious how rock-solid you've been.
I will run the update tonight for sure.
What troubles me is that this issue is still not present among all Premiere users on the new Mac Pro, and I've had my HD wiped clean by Apple recently with the issue persisting right afterward. Not sure how lighting could strike me twice like that. In other words, I don't understand how this could be a software issue if me giving my computer a digital colon cleanse didn't solve it a couple months ago.
just sayin'
