    Insert frame hold segment bugs

    eikonoklastes Community Member

      Hello,

I'm having some annoying issues with the Insert Frame Hold Segment command.

Executing the command does what you expect it to do - it creates a frozen version of the clip and inserts it at the current time.

      However:

      1. It marks the original clip with duplicate frames, even though the frames do not match.

      2. Applying a Cross Dissolve on the newly frozen clip reverts it back to "unfrozen" for the duration of the transition. It snaps back to frozen once the playhead leaves the transition.

      3. I cannot seem to find any official documentation anywhere for this command. I searched the online docs and downloaded the reference PDF, but no cigar.

Any clarity on this useful, but currently quite broken command would be much appreciated.

      Thank you.

If Premiere is acting weird restart computer and hold down shift + alt while opening Premiere until welcom screen.

This resets resp. Plugin cache and preferences.

          See if that will work.

Hello Ann.  Thank you for your reply.

Instead of resetting my preferences I decided to check on a fresh install of Premiere Pro on another machine.

I tested on a Windows 8.1 machine this time using the same version of Premiere Pro CC - 2014.0.1, 8.0.1 (21) Build.

This time the problem with the Cross Dissolve did not occur. I'll try resetting my preferences on the other machine and report back tomorrow.

However, the problem with the incorrect duplicate frame markers did repeat, so this definitely seems like a bug. If you have Premiere running, please try to replicate this - it only takes a few seconds.

            Thank you.

Yes I can reproduce the duplicated frames.

Set up an Insert Frame Hold Segment on the timeline.

Then right click on this segment and open Frame Hold Option; its set to Hold on Time. Hence the repeated frames.
