Jacob Bugge Aug 6, 2014 4:07 AM (in response to ellingtonart)ellingtonart,
It sounds as the way the same colour shows in File>Document Color Mode>RGB versus CMYK.
So you may work in CMYK and expect the colours to look like RGB (with its wider gamut).
You may wish to change to RGB Color Mode, or you may need to lower your expectations if CMYK colours are required.

ellingtonart Aug 6, 2014 4:14 AM (in response to Jacob Bugge)not to do with RGB or CMYK both are not correct.

Jacob Bugge Aug 6, 2014 4:24 AM (in response to ellingtonart)ellingtonart,
What happens if you change the Edit>Color Settings to Color Management Off or Emulate Adobe Illustrator 6?
If they are still off, you may be having some (general) strangeness(es) that may be cured by something on the following list.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Sometimes that list is the only way to avoid the fate of the Wonga Wonga bird.

Please. Don't. Do. That.
Color management cannot be turned off. It's always working inside (and controls what you see on screen), but if you select this option, you won't be able to control how it works. It might suggest you that everything is working OK while it isn't.
Instead: learn how it works and choose settings adapted to your workflow.

11. Re: My colour swatches have gone strange how as a non technical person can i reset or address this issue
Monika Gause Aug 29, 2014 3:31 AM (in response to ellingtonart)Then what exactly have you done?
If you do it correctly then Photoshop and Illustrator will behave identically.
You might want to have it done by a color management expert.
This is nothing you can do without understanding the concept of color management.
Do you know this? THis is just the basics:
Creative Suite * Keeping colors consistent
Set up color-managed print workflows | Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop
You also need to adjust your system (this one?)
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/change-color-management-settings
You might also need extra hardware to calibrate your system.

Just forget about consistent color. You won't get it.
