jamesfootight Aug 29, 2014 2:11 AM (in response to Preran)Hi, I'm looking to add similar functionality to a button, not a Facebook button, the is code seems quite complex, are you able to help explain it a bit better?
Just want a button on click to automatically email me with a specific subject line

resdesign Sep 1, 2014 7:00 AM (in response to jamesfootight)James - Not sure but if you want to just have an email sent to you then you can try the email example I wrote 3 years ago for that purpose.

6. Re: non Facebook like button - how to?
jamesfootight Sep 1, 2014 8:16 AM (in response to resdesign)Hi, the form is great but that is not quite what I'm after - I need to have a button on my microsite that just says 'like' and upon the user clicking on it, i receive an email to my inbox with a specific subject line, ie "like - page 2' so i know that a user has clicked on the like button on page 2. when the user of the microsite clicks it, not email program opens up or anything like that, but somehow i am sent an email - is this even possible?
thanks!

resdesign Sep 1, 2014 1:51 PM (in response to jamesfootight)Long time no see, James!
I think it is a bad idea to have an email sent to you without the user's knowledge. Would you like that? Not me. Enough problems with privacy in general. I do not even have a FB page anymore!
Here is a discussion sending an email:
Can i send an email from JavaScript? - JavaScript / Ajax / DHTML

9. Re: non Facebook like button - how to?
jamesfootight Sep 3, 2014 7:15 AM (in response to resdesign)thanks I will look into this, however just to clarify, the email would go to me, the website creator, so i could thus record which pages or features are getting the most likes. Eg. the user clicks a button that automatically generates an email sent to me, the website creator, with a preprogrammed subject line so i know which feature/page the user of the website clicked.
thanks
