1. Re: Canon MTS file has no audio in Premiere
Ann Bens Sep 3, 2014 10:23 AM (in response to clangschultz)Copy the entire card to your harddrive in a folder of its own without using the Canon software.
Then open a new project and injest the clips via the Media Browser.
See if that will help.

A.Kubba Sep 3, 2014 10:26 AM (in response to clangschultz)Hi,
Try to rename a single file to m2ts and check if the audio comes in or not.
Thank You

clangschultz Sep 3, 2014 10:57 AM (in response to A.Kubba)Made no difference as MTS or M2TS. Even started a new project and tried again.

Ann Bens Sep 3, 2014 10:58 AM (in response to clangschultz)Did you try as suggested in post 1?

5. Re: Canon MTS file has no audio in Premiere
clangschultz Sep 3, 2014 11:00 AM (in response to Ann Bens)I tried copying the entire SD card to the desktop and I tried Canon's Data Import Utility software. Created new project, imported from Media Browser... same issues. Audio works fine in media player and powerdvd software when I play the video. Only Premiere Pro seems to have the issue.

8. Re: Canon MTS file has no audio in Premiere
clangschultz Sep 3, 2014 11:12 AM (in response to Ann Bens)This issue is on my new laptop...
Oddly enough, my desktop seems to get audio from the same camera just fine. I do have something installed on it called MyFree Codec on the desktop. I wonder if thats making it work on the desktop? Both running most current version of Premiere Pro CC 2014

9. Re: Canon MTS file has no audio in Premiere
clangschultz Sep 3, 2014 11:17 AM (in response to Ann Bens)That myfree codec pack apparently was installed with Samsung Kies for my phone, so not sure if its related at all. Just weird it works on one premiere and not the other.

10. Re: Canon MTS file has no audio in Premiere
Ann Bens Sep 3, 2014 11:25 AM (in response to clangschultz)Golden rule: never install codec packs. They can mess up your system. Only install a codec you really need.
Only way to get rid of these codecs is to reinstall windows and the rest.
Your clip plays fine in CC14/W8.

11. Re: Canon MTS file has no audio in Premiere
clangschultz Sep 3, 2014 11:26 AM (in response to Ann Bens)I'll make note of that in the future, thanks!
As for the laptop with the issues, I haven't installed anything except MS Office, Adobe CC and my printer. And the Canon utility for copying the file from the camera. I don't understand why I can't get the audio to play.

12. Re: Canon MTS file has no audio in Premiere
clangschultz Sep 4, 2014 5:23 AM (in response to Ann Bens)I'm running CC14 on Windows 7 on both my desktop and laptop. No idea why it's not playing on the laptop. I don't have any idea what to do.

13. Re: Canon MTS file has no audio in Premiere
clangschultz Sep 4, 2014 7:18 AM (in response to clangschultz)FYI, if anyone else has this issue... while I had Adobe Enterprise tech connected to my computer trying various things I continued my research and found this thread. CC 2014. Now AVCHD files have no audio.
I suggested that he try it, and although he signed out and deactivated using a different method (I wanted to steal the mouse control back and just try the easy way, but whatever...) it worked! I hope every Adobe tech updates their notes for this issue. If I didn't find this thread, I'm sure he would have given up or had me on a week long hold while they figure it out, or I'd have smashed my laptop by now.
Hi UCAgrad,
Some things to try:
- Choose Help > Sign Out, restart Premiere Pro, choose Help > Sign In. This activates the application.
- Some users have also had success by using Adobe Cleaner and then reinstalling Premiere Pro (on Mac).
- Another user (on Windows) had success by reinstalling the OS, then Premiere Pro.
Thanks,
Kevin

14. Re: Canon MTS file has no audio in Premiere
clangschultz Sep 4, 2014 7:28 AM (in response to clangschultz)By the way... he explained that some serials are video serials and some aren't (at least with enterprise licensing). So I had installed a non-video license. It gave me access to Premiere, but not all the codecs. So I had him swap serials, since I have 2 video licenses.

That is usually last on my list.
As for the Enterprise licensing/video serials I have no idea how that works.
Anyway you are up and running again, that is the important thing.
