1. Re: Captivate 8, progressive video, avoiding connection errors
mark20044 Sep 11, 2014 11:31 AM (in response to Colleen _M)I ran into this issue with our LMS, event videos don't start loading until you click the play button, and they load very slowly. My solution is certainly not as easy as just throwing in an event video, but it definitely fixed the load times. What I did was to upload the videos to Vimeo and use the Web Object Interaction to embed them in the project. At the start of the embed code from Vimeo you'll see
"//player.vimeo.com/123456789?
and to use this in the Web Object Interaction you'll change it to
https://player.vimeo.com/123456789
The only quirk with the WOI is that it'll shrink by 10 pixels in width and height when you publish, so set the dimensions to be 10px wider and taller than the video.
You could also use the YouTube widget (which is a bit simpler to set up), but Vimeo has better privacy controls and gives you the ability to turn off the logo with the embed settings for more seamless integration.
Hope that helps!

RodWard Sep 11, 2014 5:16 PM (in response to Colleen _M)You mention that this content is NOT being served from an LMS.
If that means that it is being served from a LAN server rather than a web server, then your issue could be connected to Flash Global Security, or the fact that the LAN server is not set to serve video files.
