flash 14 downloaded, split second cmd box appears and vanishes when trying to install.

My problem is basically as the title suggests.

I downloaded the newest version of flash install_flashplayer14x32au_mssd_aaa_aih.exe ; and every time i try to install, all i see is a split second command box that disappears as quickly as it appears, and that's it, it doesn't install the new version or anything.

I'm using a NE71B Series Gateway laptop.

Windows 8.1
