Indesign does not give me the option to create a document based on inches. I want a poster 24X36 in.  How do I do this?

To set up your document to use inches, you may:

  • Set the units to Inches in Preferences > Units & Increments...
  • Simply type "24 in" and "36 in" in the dimension fields (you can enter any supported units regardless of the preference setting and InDesign will convert)

with no documents open, change your default units

you can also type in the units you want in the new document fields

If, for instance, the default is mm, you can type 8 in, and it will convert that to mm.
