1. Re: In captivate 8, can you apply an effect (e.g., a transition) to grouped shapes? (I can apply effect to a single shape, but when I group shapes, I can't figure out how).

It is not possible to apply effects to groups of shapes. You can apply transition from the timing panel, and other properties from the properties inspector.
You will have to apply same effect of same duration to all objects of that one group in this case.

Lilybiri Sep 19, 2014 2:15 AM (in response to akaskens)That is one of the many feature requests I have been logging about actions on groups, but it didn't make it yet on the priority list. Please, enter a feature request.
Duration of Effects in CP8 is now absolute, no longer relative. I recommend the default duration, or the creation of a custom effect if you have to apply an effect with another duration.
