1. Re: 2 monitors: 1 Production & 1 Consumer, which one, how and what?

I would start there. Many consumer monitor manufacturers don't add the 10bit color option to HDMi in the firmware. HDMi includes that in the standard but for some reason they often limit that to displayport. This restricts the monitoring output options for 10 bit to the Quadro or I/O cards such as Blackmagic with displayport converters or HDlink series. Since you plan to use Davinci I suggest you go the Blackmagic I/O card route and get the converter to displayport if the monitor doesn't support 10bit on the HDMi.

2. Re: 2 monitors: 1 Production & 1 Consumer, which one, how and what?
naumen Oct 3, 2014 7:05 PM (in response to ECBowen)I decided to start 1st from Consumer monitor, i went over many brands and models , and read lots of info, and came to the conclusion that HP Z27x is Best of what consumer monitors can offer! So i ordered it!
in fact i have made my final design after reading that blog:
http://provideocoalition.com/atepper...h-2-new-models
seems like it can be a good one! and could be used as production monitor on set for now...... should work fine with my canon C300
but now my next question: i need a 10 bit out. from what i understand in order to get 10 bit on consumer monitor - i should use DP (display port), not HDMI..... so what could output 10 bit over DP?
i found that pci card , i wonder if it will work?
HP Thunderbolt-2 PCIe 1-Port I/O Card

so if it really works - i wonder what BM product i could use together with that card so that i could connect my Future Professional production SDI monitor
