1. Re: expiration
John T Smith Sep 20, 2014 9:06 PM (in response to mikefromoakland)There is a LONG discussion in another forum, with no clear answer yet on just who is at fault for the serial numbers expiring... the University or Adobe Academy of Art Cancels CS6 for all current and PAST students. I don't want the cloud. I've been robbed!

2. Re: expiration
Steven L. Gotz Sep 21, 2014 9:07 AM (in response to mikefromoakland)I have never heard of a serial number expiring. I suppose it is possible, but why? For quite some time, Adobe has said that the educational version is allowed to be used professionally. They figure they will get your business for life if they get you hooked young. What would be the point of having an expiration date? It is counterproductive.

3. Re: expiration
Stan Jones Sep 21, 2014 10:19 AM (in response to Steven L. Gotz)It takes a little reading between the lines, but I think:
a) the licenses under discussion are multi-seat licenses acquired by an educational institution;
b) such licenses are subject to a multi-seat contract which now, and perhaps previously, may have limited terms; and
c) these institutions, now that Adobe has discontinued providing new licenses of this type for CS6, are negotiating for cloud subscriptions, and as a condition of the new contract, drop the "old" licenses - or they simply lapse because the agreement is not/can not be continued.
Some upset alums believe that they bought their own licenses or were promised a perpetual license by the educational institution, and some have received a short term subscription from Adobe to help them work while this gets sorted out.
I really know nothing; just reading along. A big mess.
