SubleaveStudios Jun 23, 2014 12:50 AM (in response to kglad)Thanks. I installed it and everything works fine. I'm still wondering why Adobe didn't include it in the Creative Cloud, the Dynamic Link would make work so much easier.

geo_coy Sep 22, 2014 11:45 AM (in response to SubleaveStudios)So I am having the same problem, I have created a video in Premier Pro CC and I would like to burn it to a DVD. Are you telling me I can't burn a DVD with the CC package? Are you telling me I have to use an old version or someone else software. A little bit of frustration here.

8. Re: Where can I download Adobe Encore?
geo_coy Sep 22, 2014 12:45 PM (in response to geo_coy)I viewed the Tutorial Using Premiere Pro CC & Encore CS6 for Bluray, DVD, and Interactive Video for iPad,ATV, and Mobile HD
and the instructor mentioned that we should burn image rather then burn directly to the DVD. This raises the question, if I create an image that is okay to use, what exactly is the next step? Do I choose Burn disc somewhere and chose burn using IMAGE? So I never got this far before.
Lastly the instructor made the comment that we could burn the DVD from the image , but he suggested using a Windows application to actually burn the disk, and he seemed to implying that we could use Encore as a last resort. That sounds a little unusual to have us jump thru a bunch of hoops to create a video and create a menu and then burn it to disk with a Windows application. Could I get some clarification? -
9. Re: Where can I download Adobe Encore?
SubleaveStudios Sep 23, 2014 10:34 AM (in response to geo_coy)You can't burn a saved image to a DVD with Encore, though you have the option to burn your project directly from Encore onto a DVD. But Encore is not meant to be a burning program, so it can take you much longer than using a little burning Application, and in addition, Encore doesn't feature burning multiple copies. With an Image you also have much more flexibility, e.g. you could take it to a Copyshop and let them burn 1000 copies for you.
For my last project I created a DVD-Image with Encore and burned it to 50 DVDs with CDBurnerXP, a little Windows burning application. CDBurnerXP: Free CD and DVD burning software
If you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

11. Re: Where can I download Adobe Encore?
geo_coy Sep 24, 2014 11:51 AM (in response to SubleaveStudios)Thanks for the information, I am beginning to understand. Now I think I need to back up a bit and ask the question differently. I am in the process of making a new ~60 minute video that actually contains 10 smaller .wmv files. I was mixing things up and using mp4s and wmv simultaneously and I discovered Premier Pro doesn't like you to do that. So I chose the wmv to work with. I am not sure which is the best file type to work with. I will have to experiment with this video until I get it the way I want it. this means I may have to create a few sample DVDs to see what the final results look like. So I am looking for the best process in making the final dvds. This is my current process:
- Capture video from a variety of sources/ methods, some screen captures, some existing video files
- Convert all files to a single format like wmv format
- Combine all videos into one final video / movie in Premier Pro
- Tweak the animation and audio in Premier Pro
- Create chapter points to separate/ identify appropriate segments
- Create a menu ( I would have used Encore before, but it looks like Encore is obsolete) so I am using something in Adobe to make a menu.
- Output the final video in some format where I can test all functionality, I assumed I would have to output the file on a DVD several times to test functionality
- When I have the final video complete I will have it copied to several DVDs so I can hand it off for inspection by other associates.
- Please advise if my process is what you would expect me to be doing. Any advise at this point is very welcome

Stan Jones Sep 24, 2014 5:51 PM (in response to geo_coy)I won't comment on the Premiere Pro editing stages.
- Create a menu ( I would have used Encore before, but it looks like Encore is obsolete) so I am using something in Adobe to make a menu.
- Output the final video in some format where I can test all functionality, I assumed I would have to output the file on a DVD several times to test functionality

Encore is not obsolete, just "end of life." It will work fine for you. You will learn menu creation faster if you start with an Encore library template. Add a DVD (not high def if you are making a DVD), then right click on the menu and pick "edit in photoshop." You'll see the button groups, , highlight layers, etc. You can play with them there, save the file, close in Photoshop, then switch back to Encore and see the status.
Export from Premiere as MPEG2-DVD and change nothing. This will create 2 files (m2v and wav) that you import to Encore "as timeline." As you get more experience, you can adjust bitrates for size/quality.
I like to "build" to a folder for testing. You can play a folder with many programs. But build to an image for burning. Software players (windows meadia player, vlc, etc) are "emulators," and for DVD playback on a TV, you can only rely on burned disks.

14. Re: Where can I download Adobe Encore?
geo_coy Sep 25, 2014 9:54 AM (in response to Stan Jones)Stan Jones, Thanks again, Your Comments are good, little nuggets everywhere. They bring new questions
If Encore is at “end of life”, what application is the intended replacement. No point in using the “end of Life” version when there is probably an intended replacement I want to learn to use for the future work.I understand your comments regarding the buttons in Encore etc, I experimented with that so I see how it works.
I exported as an image (recalling) choosing the MPEG2 - DVD and I got the two files you refer too, but they don't play together without importing them back into Encore or Premier pro so what's the point. I already know how they play in Premier. They play individually with Windows applications but I really wanted to see everything working together. Hence I would have to burn a DVD to get them to play together. Tell me if I am wrong about this.
You said " I like to "build" to a folder for testing. You can play a folder with many programs." Okay this is what I want, but what programs will play the folder?
Sounds like I will have to tweak my video and take it as far as I can in Premier Pro and burn a sample DVD and begin testing using the DVD version. If I recall correctly when you burn a DVD with Windows DVD maker it wants to create a menu for you, which is Okay but, trouble is, the program did not recognize my chapter markers I created in Premier Pro. Not everything is perfect.
Comments appreciated

15. Re: Where can I download Adobe Encore?
Ann Bens Sep 25, 2014 10:48 AM (in response to geo_coy)You drop the two files (video and audio) in Encore, make menu, link everything together and play the preview within Encore.
You can also make a folder or image of the Encore project to see if everything is running like it should before burning it to disk.
For playing a folder you can use WMP, for images you need to mount the image first (e.g. virtual clone drive). I like Power DVD for my dvd and bd disks.

16. Re: Where can I download Adobe Encore?
Stan Jones Sep 25, 2014 2:06 PM (in response to geo_coy)If Encore is at “end of life”, what application is the intended replacement.
Adobe announced that Encore was EOL because disks were on their way out, and streaming was the future. There will be no replacement. The more credible reason is that Rovio, that bought Sonic/Roxio and controls the licensing for the core of Encore and many other authoring programs, has killed all such products.
So go ahead and learn Encore.
