apkhan Sep 22, 2014 2:28 PM (in response to Trish45)After downloading did you install Adobe Reader by clicking on the .dmg from your downloads folder ?
What happens when you open PDF files, do you see any message?

~graffiti Sep 22, 2014 2:47 PM (in response to Trish45)Were you able to open them before? Were you using Reader? What version did you have and what version did you download? What did the notification message say? It didn't mention file.org did it?

3. Re: I downloaded the Adobe Reader and now can't open PDF files
Trish45 Sep 22, 2014 4:52 PM (in response to apkhan)It tells me the app is already installed after I clicked on the .dmg from my downloads folder. I previously finished step #3 and it wanted me to buy something optional at that point.

4. Re: I downloaded the Adobe Reader and now can't open PDF files
Trish45 Sep 22, 2014 4:58 PM (in response to ~graffiti)Yes, I was able to open PDFs until I downloaded the new version as per the alert on my MacBook Pro. I was using Adobe Reader often.
I downloaded whatever they sent me my way (11?) and my operating system is Mac05 (10.5.8-10.9 English). The message says I’ve already downloaded it. It didn’t mention file.org. I looked in my preferences and didn’t see Adobe Reader, only Flash Player.
I’m not terribly computer savvy, so I’m trying to figure this out. Any help would be appreciated.

Please tell us the full and exact message you are getting.
Also, does this happen when you try to open a local or online PDF? If online, in what browser?

7. Re: I downloaded the Adobe Reader and now can't open PDF files
Trish45 Sep 22, 2014 7:09 PM (in response to pwillener)I can read PDF files that are currently in my computer. The problem seems to be when I'm online trying to open them.
The message is as follows:
"Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement, then Quit and relaunch the browser."

Trish45 Sep 22, 2014 8:08 PM (in response to Trish45)YIPEE!! You are a lifesaver!! I now understand what a "launch pad" is on the Mac and how it works. It was on the second page so I didn't see it the first time. Thank you for your time and expertise. It is much appreciated!
