1. Re: PSE13: no sound when playing AVCHD videos
DP* Sep 27, 2014 11:54 PM (in response to DP*)I should add, these files played fine in PSE12. Since I installed PSE 13, if I try to play them in PSE12 I get a popup warning that says "The selected file cannot be played because your system does not have the required compressor/decommpressor (codec) installed".
When I play the videos from the PSE13 Organizer, they play without any error message (and without any sound).
So...the PSE13 installation seems to have messed up the codecs on my system. It's interesting that Premiere Elements 13 can play these videos just fine - no codec issues at all as far as I can tell.

3. Re: PSE13: no sound when playing AVCHD videos
DP* Sep 30, 2014 9:21 PM (in response to yossi000)I had a chat session with Adobe's level 1 support and they weren't able to solve the problem. They're escalating the issue. I'll post back if/when I hear back.
And one important thing I forget to mention in my original post: this is 64 bit PSE 13 running under 64 bit Windows 8.1

5. Re: PSE13: no sound when playing AVCHD videos
BillAnnapolis Nov 2, 2014 2:59 PM (in response to DP*)I had this same problem with a new Sony A6000 camera and an upgrade to PSE13. I was
able to solve it by switching to the MP4 video format. The sound works now in playback although
only with videos I shot since the change.
A book I purchased on the A6000 said the problem occurs when newer cameras are used with
older computers.
Hope this helps. I'm new at trying to pass on solutions!
