1. Re: No embedded closed captions on AME export
monstremoi Apr 16, 2014 1:02 PM (in response to Elicon200)I am sorry to hear you had a problem. There is a bug, where if the user embeds closed captions into a file from the Sequence, to AME, that captions will not be embedded.
Two ways that work, it reads like you have tried one of them:
-- Embed closed captions into a file from the Sequence through PPRO directly, and not using AME
-- Embed closed captions into a file from the Project Area, through PPRO directly, or through AME
I followed up on this and discovered I had authored the very bug against 7.2.2. If you still have questions, or problems, do write back.

2. Re: No embedded closed captions on AME export
Roberio Oliveira Jun 3, 2014 11:04 AM (in response to monstremoi)Greetings,
I just submitted a bug report about this issue, as bellow:
******BUG******
Concise problem statement:
Steps to reproduce bug:
- 1. Encode XDCAM HD422 clips with embedded closed captions, edited with mcc captions, using AME;
- 2. Edit those clips again in Adobe Premiere Pro CC. May be mixed with other clips without closed caption or with mcc closed captions;
- 3. Export them again in XDCAM HD422 with embedded closed captions, using AME.
Results: Closed caption track still exists but it's totally blank, void, null
Expected results: Closed caption should be still there. That's the results when exported directly from Adobe Premiere Pro.
The workaround we opted is to insert all mcc captions only for the final export, not giving up on AME's convenience and productivity help. Hope Adobe will fix it soon, for a more fluid workflow. We are looking forward to it.

3. Re: No embedded closed captions on AME export
learningcurvesHD Sep 29, 2014 9:37 AM (in response to Elicon200)I'm not having any luck either. Trying to export a sequence from PPro with a CC track I've created. Exporting the sequence as XDCAM HD422 with embedded CC is not working. Any revelations about this issue?

4. Re: No embedded closed captions on AME export
monstremoi Sep 29, 2014 10:04 AM (in response to learningcurvesHD)What is the closed caption track set to -- in terms of the standard?
In selecting the Sequence, and going File-> Export-> Media:
What do you pick for -- Export Settings: Format
What do you pick for -- Video Tab: Video Codec
I'm assuming you have "Embed in Output File" selected under Captions: Export Options
Let me know and thanks for the question

5. Re: No embedded closed captions on AME export
learningcurvesHD Sep 29, 2014 10:53 AM (in response to monstremoi)Heya,
The cc track is set to CEA-708 Service 1
export settings
Quicktime Format, with the XDCAM HD422 1080i60 (50 Mb/s) codec.
29.97
Upper First field order
Square pixel
Captions EmbeddedI noticed the default field order is set to Upper, I tried an output with Lower first and it did not change the CC. Bringing the file with allegedly embedded captions back into the project's timeline has been one of two ways I've been checking; the second is Quicktime player.
I could easily be missing something, I haven't been using PPro very long at all. Thanks for the help!

6. Re: No embedded closed captions on AME export
monstremoi Sep 29, 2014 10:59 AM (in response to learningcurvesHD)No problem! Thanks for writing back.
Embedding 708 closed captions to MOV will not work -- we embed 608 closed captions to MOV.
You can embed 708 closed captions to MXF -- we support 608 and 708 embedding to MXF.

7. Re: No embedded closed captions on AME export
learningcurvesHD Sep 29, 2014 11:24 AM (in response to monstremoi)oh great to know thanks. Is this a general thing regarding embedding 708 into MOV, or a PPro specific problem? I'm pretty sure we've applied a 708 to a Pro Res QT with Mac Caption in the past.

8. Re: No embedded closed captions on AME export
monstremoi Sep 29, 2014 12:00 PM (in response to learningcurvesHD)It is a limitation with PPRO -- we can import embedded 608 and 708 MOVs -- but we embed only 608 to MOVs
