2. Re: I get error message:An error occurred when attempting to change modules.
gr8fulted Jul 21, 2014 5:16 PM (in response to ssprengel)This did not do anything to help me. I still cannot access a usable Lightroom.
I did follow the directions on the link. However, it told me to delete the preferences for Lightroom and where to find it. When I followed the directions to where the preferences to be deleted were, I found they were not in that file. As a result, i still have a bum product from Adobe and can't use it. How disappointing.

thedigitaldog Jul 21, 2014 5:27 PM (in response to gr8fulted)Hum, something sounds iffy on that Mac. Did you restart? Can you try reinstalling LR? Sometimes, zapping the Pram can fix such oddites on a Mac. Reboot, and right after the tone, hold down Command & Option key, P and R key until the Mac reboots again and you hear the tone. Then let it start up as usual and try again. If that doesn't work, can you log into the Mac as another user and tell us if the issue continues.

4. Re: I get error message:An error occurred when attempting to change modules.
gr8fulted Jul 22, 2014 9:20 PM (in response to thedigitaldog)Ok, so I did all of these things and none of them worked until I logged out and then logged back in as another user. Everything worked fine then. I was even able to download the Lightroom 5 update.
However, when I logged and then back in as myself, it was the same old error in changing modules message and it doesn’t work. How do I get the working version as the other user to work as me? I don’t want to be someone else. I want this software to work properly as me.

That you have issues with that one account indicates the issue is something in that user Library. A conflict, corrupted file etc. It's not the main System or Library. Could be something in Application Support/Adobe folder, preference, who knows. But at least you know that the problem lies somewhere in that user library. It's not the LR application itself.

sam.am Oct 2, 2014 12:39 AM (in response to gr8fulted)Have you tried to give full permission to Lightroom folder under /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe?
If your User name and Administrator is not appearing Under Sharing & Permission
Click on + icon and Add your current user name and Administrator.
Then Give Read and Write Permission for Admin, System, Everyone, (your user name)
If you are facing any issues with finding the correct folder or giving permission, message me I will provide you the steps.
