Capture One ver. 8.0 supports tethering capture for Sony Alpha 99 though you need to run RCC from Sony to change camera settings, ingestion is fast and even you can see the photos in a wi-fi linked browser, besides CO recognizes my Sony - Zeiss 24-70mm lens while LR doesn`t.. Is there any chance LR will provide this support in the near future?
Probably no chance - Lightroom tethering depends on the provision by a camera manufacturer of an SDK, and Sony doesn't provide one.
Sony and Phase One seem to have come to a commercial arrangement (which is presumably also why Capture One 8 Express is a Sony-only deal now), but I imagine that the Alpha 99 will be in the same boat as all other Sony cameras as far as Lr tethering is concerned.
Many thanks for the update Keith!
Sorry for taking so long to answer your comment..
There is also a full version of C1 for Sony cameras, it costs $30.00 with all the features I've mentioned before, so I'm shooting tethered with C1, performing some retouching and using LR as a data-base/hub for other apps eventually..
