All that does is send me to the support section on Adobe.com.

check your install logs for a non-generic error, Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC

I'm assuming the fact that I don't have the "Installers" folder is the problem. Following step one, I get as far as the Adobe folder and there is no "Installer" folder in there.
- Mac OS: /Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers/
What next?

you may be out of luck.
you can try cleaning first and then installing - Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
but if you get the same error and nothing specific, there's no way (that i know) to find the problem, [CS5.5] Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem.

Unfortunately, I have already done the cleaner tool and it's still not working.

i don't know of any way to provide further help unless you can find those installation logs or there's a specific error.

Mousie44 if you do not have installation logs then you may have a PDApp.log file. You can find information on how to locate the PDApp.log in the document offered by Kglad in message #3.

Yes, I found that. But then it tells me to search for the ones that say "error" but none of them do.

I checked the logs and found this as the most recent:
Wed Oct 15 08:03:09 2014 [FATAL] Setup - Unable to copy PDAppFlex.swf one level up. I don't understand what I am supposed to do next. Can you help anymore?

Possibly Mousie44 can you post the surrounding lines from the log file so I can see additional context? 10 lines on either side of the error should be enough.

according to this, Installation, launch log errors | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CCM
your installer is corrupt.
if you're using a cd, create a desktop directory and copy your cd(s) contents to that directory. click the setup file in that desktop directory.
if you're not using a cd or the above fails, re-download the installation files being careful to check the file size to ensure you have an uncorrupted download.

Thank you Mousie44 I would concur with Kglad's assessment. Please try utilizing a fresh copy of the installation files.
If you continue to experience difficulties the most recent installation attempt will be appended to the bottom of the existing log files.

I'm using the software disks I was given when I bought the program. I have also tried the download from the Adobe site as well. Neither work.

did you copy the contents of all the disks to a desktop folder and install by clicking setup in that desktop folder?
