1. Re: Elements 11 and Elements 13 database compatability
SurendraPal1410 Oct 14, 2014 1:37 AM (in response to steerage250)Can you attach a snapshot of the error shown to you? Also where is backup located (on a disc/netword drive/external or internal HDD)?

2. Re: Elements 11 and Elements 13 database compatability
steerage250 Oct 14, 2014 6:01 AM (in response to SurendraPal1410)The backup is on a USB hard drive. I have backed-up PSE11 twice and tried to restore into PSE13 with no luck. (It restores (seemingly) all the photos - just not the catalogue.)
I also installed a trial copy of PSE12 on another computer, and restored a PSE11 backup (from the USB hard drive) onto that. It worked OK except I had to re-connect all the files, and the Events and Places tags were not visible over in the right-hand window, but the People tags were (the Events and Places tags were attached to the actual photos - just no Events or Places tags in the tag browser).
I then backed-up the PSE12 database and tried to restore into PSE13. I can't remember the error I got that time (not the one above), but then I realised all the PSE12 photos needed re-connecting, so I did that and backed it up again, and again tried to restore a PSE12 into PSE13. I got the same error message above that I get when trying to restore a PSE11 database into PSE13.
I was thinking of upgrading to PSE13 myself, but am having doubts now.

3. Re: Elements 11 and Elements 13 database compatability
SurendraPal1410 Oct 15, 2014 3:40 AM (in response to steerage250)Thanks for the info.
What is the approx size of your backup? Also can you please try taking backup on another media (say internal HDD or on any other flash drive).
Also do you have any other files on HDD. I was wondering (in case if you don't have another media) then you can probably format it (only if there is NO other files on HDD). Optimize/repair your catalog and and take backup again from PSE11 and try to restore it in PSE13.

4. Re: Elements 11 and Elements 13 database compatability
steerage250 Oct 16, 2014 3:48 AM (in response to SurendraPal1410)I managed to successfully restore.
I backed the PSE11 catalogue (full backup) to the PSE11 PC hard-drive, then copied the folder over the network to the PSE13 PC hard-drive, and restored from there - and it restored without error messages.
I think the problem must have come when writing the backup to the USB hard drive, because after the initial restore problems, I copied the folder from the USB hard drive to the PSE13 computer and restored from there, but it still didn't work.
thanks for the suggestion
