split view workspace preference not remembered

I edit php files which contain html blocks in split view,, but DW CC2014.1 always opens php file in code view only. Changing the setting and saving the current workspace makes no difference. The .php files extension is not set as "Open In Code View" in the Preferences. The previous version of Dreamweaver CC2014 had no problem with this. How can I get php files to open automatically in split (code and design) view.

Hi cynglas ,

This is a new change that we have made in DW CC 2014.1. All pages with server side code like php will now always open in full code view.

So you've taken choice away on a "we know what's best" principle. Why? That's very irritating. Why not let the user choose what they want to do?

Hello cynglas,

This has been done so that users do not get the 'Update Copy on Testing Server' dialog every time, on simply opening a php document.

I understand that would be a reason to have it as a program default out of the box, but I don't use a local testing server (IT policy of the company not wanting one set up on their system), so what I want is the ability to change the setting in my preferences. Choice is good.

Also submitted feature (bug) request. I keep a minimum of 10 documents open for constant updates and having to change to split view each restart gets old.

Click the Ideas tab and then the Actions > Create an Idea to create a "vote-able" feature request.

I have submitted my feature (bug) request as well. Also gave a vote to Murray's page! Completely feel the same way as the rest of you!
