Nudge section of clip up 1 video level without adding edits

    QuiteFrankly

      Hi,

I am going through a process of making selects from my master clips in my timeline.

My process for doing this is by adding edits at the points I wish to cut, then selecting the new smaller clip and using the shortcut to move up onto video level 2.

Is there any way to do this using in and out points and not having to add edits.

So I could just mark my in, mark my out.  The section of clip i want is highlighted.  Then just nudge up a video level?

      Thanks

      Chris

I don't think what you're asking for exists.

          There are workarounds:

          1. Use subclips instead. These are basically designed for what you're trying to doing.  They'll make a clip out of your selected range (in the Source Monitor) that you can reuse later. Uncheck "Restrict trims to subclip boundaries" if your ranges are subject to change later.

          2. If you're on OS X, use an app to create a macro that will automate the repetitive tasks for you with a single keyboard shortcut (Keyboard Maestro works well for me).
