closing desktop client in order to update flash

I am trying to update flash and am being asked to close desktop client but have no idea how to do so. Therefore I cannot update and play any flash. Using OS X Yosemite.

Moved to Installing Flash Player

Try closing all web browsers. (Safari, Firefox, Chrome). If that doesn’t do the trick close all programs except the installer.

Everything is closed, except desktop client and the installer. It gets to 97% of completing the installation and tells me, close desktop client, which I still have no idea how to do.

Mac OS has a utility called Activity Monitor; use that to close the application.
