I hope you remember the authorization credentials. If yes, then try following steps:

Launch ADE 4.0

In library mode,

Help ->Erase authorization.

Help -> Authorize computer.

Enter the credentials and activate ADE.

Now try to download the book

Thanks

ADE forced me to update yesterday from whatever version I was using (2?), having postponed this as long as possible (I'm from the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" school of thought).  Well, guess what, now it's broken.

When I try to download a book (acsm), ADE says "Error! Check Activation."

I have tried the above suggestion but erasing the authorization doesn't work.  I get "Unable to Erase Authentication. Please try after some time."  Lovely error message!  What is "some time"? Minutes, days, years?  I tried last night, waited an hour, tried again, went to bed, got up this morning, tried again.  Same thing every time.

If I ask for Authorization Information, it tells me that I am authorized and has the correct Adobe ID.

I am stuck and I am getting somewhat annoyed at Adobe and all the publishers that insist on relying on a single element in the tool chain.

Thank you.

PS - I am using Windows 7.

If due to some reason, you are unable to deauthorize ADE, follow the below steps:

Windows:

Choose Start > Run.

In the Open text box, type regedit and then press Enter. The Registry Editor opens.

In the left pane of the Registry Editor, locate the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept

Right-click the Adept key and choose Delete.

In the Confirm Key Delete dialog, click OK.

Your authorization will be deleted.

ADE will be deauthorized now.

Now Authorize ADE again.
