Sara.Forsberg Nov 4, 2014 3:28 PM (in response to Internetwerx)Hi Internetwerx,
I'm not sure that I follow. Are you removing PDF from a Portfolio, and it remains in the Portfolio briefly after deletion?
What operating system and version are you on? When you say that the file remains for a while, what makes it disappear? Does it disappear when you save the portfolio, or change preview modes?
I look forward to hearing back from you so that we can get to the bottom of this one!
Best,

Internetwerx Nov 4, 2014 3:32 PM (in response to Sara.Forsberg)It is Windows 7 and the file still appears for a while even after it is deleted from the file. We don't know what causes a "ghost" copy to remain in the file before it is deleted.

Sara.Forsberg Nov 4, 2014 3:45 PM (in response to Internetwerx)Please forgive my ignorance--I'm having a hard time understanding what you mean when you the the "file still appears" when it's "deleted from the file." Are you deleting PDF files from the Windows Explorer, or deleting files from a portfolio. Or something else entirely? If you could walk me through your workflow, I should have a more clear notion of what where you're seeing that "ghost" copy.
Thanks!

Internetwerx Nov 5, 2014 6:49 AM (in response to Sara.Forsberg)For instance: A file is scanned into a folder on the computer. Once the file is then moved/copied to another folder the original file is then deleted. If you go back into the original folder, it looks like the file is still there, but you are not able to open it. Unsure if there is a time frame on how long the ghost file last, but it in normally gone once you close out of the folder and then reopen it.

Thanks

Sara.Forsberg Nov 7, 2014 8:50 AM (in response to Internetwerx)Hi there,
Does this only happen with PDF files? It sounds more like an issue with the operating system. Are you on Mac OS or Windows (and what version)?

Internetwerx Nov 7, 2014 9:47 AM (in response to Sara.Forsberg)It only happens with PDF files and it is a Windows machine.

Bill@VT Nov 7, 2014 8:13 PM (in response to Internetwerx)I have this problem with a variety of files in Win7. I can usually get rid of the item in the list by changing to a different folder and returning or doing a refresh. If Acrobat is still open where there file had been open, Windows may still consider the file to be open and will not delete it from the list.

Internetwerx Nov 10, 2014 6:41 AM (in response to Bill@VT)Is there anything else that we can do to disable this action? We use many scanned pdf files and many folders.

Bill@VT Nov 10, 2014 10:57 AM (in response to Internetwerx)I think it is an issue of the refresh in Windows Explorer not being automatic for Win 7 and maybe 8.1. As I indicated, it is more of a OS issue, not one of Acrobat and you may have to search the issue for Windows. Does this happen with files other than PDFs?
