Test Screen Name Nov 6, 2014 1:13 AM (in response to MuseRookie3)If you're using a Forms Central form, why not let the form be submitted to Forms Central in the usual way? If you don't want to use Forms Central, make the form entirely in Acrobat instead.

MuseRookie3 Nov 6, 2014 7:19 AM (in response to Test Screen Name)Thanks for your reply! How do I add a "submit button" in Adobe Forms Central? I can't figure out how to do that either. Please let me know. Thanks!

Sabian Zildjian Nov 6, 2014 8:09 AM (in response to MuseRookie3)Basically, if you want to edit a FormsCentral form which is an XFA form then you need Adobe LiveCycle Designer.
If you had Adobe Acrobat X and upgraded then you may be eligible for this offer: Upgrade Adobe Designer | Acrobat XI
If not then you need to see if you can purchase it.

MuseRookie3 Nov 6, 2014 8:13 AM (in response to Test Screen Name)Thanks for your input! I have the Desktop App installed. It's insane how difficult Adobe makes it to add a Submit button! An online questionnaire is virtually useless without one! I'm starting to believe it's not by accident and even though I'm a Creative Cloud paying subscription member I'd have to pay more by signing up for a Forms Central account as well! Subscription Options - Free, Basic, and Plus | Adobe FormsCentral The "FREE" account apparently doesn't support a "submit' button...

MuseRookie3 Nov 6, 2014 8:21 AM (in response to Sabian Zildjian)I already have Adobe Acrobat XI Pro as part of my Creative Cloud subscription. I thought the whole selling point for the Adobe Creative Cloud is that it includes ALL ADOBE PRODUCTS?

Sabian Zildjian Nov 6, 2014 8:25 AM (in response to MuseRookie3)If you are creating a form within the context of FormsCentral then you "should" be able to add a Submit button. I thought you were attempting to modify a form.

Test Screen Name Nov 6, 2014 8:47 AM (in response to MuseRookie3)Seems to me you already have a submit button because Forms Central puts it there. Did you follow the instructions and test the form? See also Submit Button

MuseRookie3 Nov 6, 2014 8:49 AM (in response to Sabian Zildjian)It's a paradox! There's no way to add a functional SUBMIT BUTTON within Forms Central (a form created in FormsCentral) OR modifying the PDF in Acrobat Pro XI. All the YouTube instructions on how to do so don't work. They must have purposely changed it so the only way you can achieve a functional online form with a Submit button is to pay extra for a FormsCentral Upgrade subscription.

Test Screen Name Nov 6, 2014 8:52 AM (in response to MuseRookie3)Since you seem determined not to use Acrobat forms, I recommend you post in the Forms Central forum, where you'll find people who use that particular alternative.

13. Re: How do I add a functional "submit button" to a pdf form in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI ? I created the pdf form in Adobe Forms Central.
George Johnson Nov 6, 2014 9:00 AM (in response to MuseRookie3)This can be a bit confusing because Acrobat 11 comes with the desktop app that allows you to create simple PDF forms without having a FormsCentral account. Some people find this helpful, but you need to understand that when you generate the PDF form, it is Reader-enabled by Acrobat. In order to edit the form further in Acrobat, you have to create a non-enabled copy of the form. You do this in Acrobat by opening the form and selecting: File > Save a Copy
and opening the copy. It is not opened automatically.
You can now add a button and set it up to submit by email, either using a "Submit a form" action or the submitForm JavaScript method. You can set it up to include just the form data or the entire PDF, and will want to use a mailto type URL. Submitting the form to the FormsCentral server has a number of important advantages over email (much more reliable, more secure, etc.), so you might want to consider it.
If the form needs to be saved with Reader versions prior to 11, then you will need to Reader-enable the document. In Acrobat 11 you do this by selecting: File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools

MuseRookie3 Nov 6, 2014 9:00 AM (in response to Test Screen Name)Did you read the entire thread prior to posting that comment? I've attempted multiple times to use an Acrobat Form. It doesn't work. I have Acrobat Pro XI. I believe they removed the SUBMIT BUTTON feature in XI. If you have Pro XI please "print screen" it for me. Thanks

George Johnson Nov 6, 2014 9:15 AM (in response to Sabian Zildjian)Basically, if you want to edit a FormsCentral form which is an XFA form then you need Adobe LiveCycle Designer.
Just wanted to clarify that a form created with FormsCentral is not an XFA form, it is an AcroForm that can be edited in Acrobat. It just needs to be un-enabled first.

Sabian Zildjian Nov 6, 2014 11:22 AM (in response to George Johnson)Thanks George! I stand corrected. I thought the FormsCentral forms were XFA. I looked at the file in PDF CanOpener and there is no XFA dictionary. Saved a Copy and Voila! AcroForm.
