Illustrator CC 2014 can't open files sent from Draw.

Illustrator CC 2014 v18.0.0 (just installed today, 11/6/2014): I can't open files sent from Adobe Draw. The files send from Draw OK, but in Illustrator—which finally opens as advertised—I get an error message, i.e. The file "Dog - Drawing 1.draw" is in an unknown format and cannot be opened. This goes for all of my work, whether created in Ideas then opened recently in Draw, or files created in Draw from scratch.

The latest version is 18.1.0. You need to install that one.

Thank you. I can't upgrade Illustrator, though. My update option is grayed out. It's weird: I just bought and downloaded this thing today: you'd imagine it would be the latest version. It apparently is not. I'm using OS 10.9.5, for what it's worth. (I've been leery of upgrading right away to 10.10. I'm a Mac technician in my day job.) I wonder if that might be why I am not allowed to update Illustrator to 18.1.0. I should do some checking. Maybe all I've got to do is upgrade to the latest OS and then update Illustrator. Anyway, thanks for your response.

              Hi marstalls,

Please try to rename the file AdobeUpdaterPrefs.dat under following location.

              /Users/<user name>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdater/1.0/

It will enable the update option under Help>Update menu.

Please let me know if it doesn't worked.

              Regards,

              Sumit Singh

Thank you for your idea, Sumit. Well, I was not able to solve the problem just by changing the updaterprefs.dat file (My settings were more messed up more than you would have known.). But your idea made me think that I have a bunch of residual Adobe junk on the machine—CS6 and earlier—that might be causing problems. I ran uninstall for EVERYTHING Adobe, including my new CC installations. Then, for good measure, I ran the Adobe Cleaner to get rid of anything I missed. THEN I went and just deleted that entire AAMUpdater folder in my Library. After all was done I went and downloaded CC desktop, then Illustrator CC again. It works!!! I have 18.1.0. I see my files from Adobe Draw.
