Removing Alternate Layouts

I accidentally selected alternate layouts when building a documents and now I can't get rid of it. Even when I open a new document, the alternate layouts are still there. How can I remove them- especially for new documents?

You can delete alternate layouts from their flyout menu in Pages palette, and then reset your workspace:
Window > Workspace ...
