This is seriously affecting my work now. It's been like this for FAR too long.
Feasible Workaround. This came from Dennis Weinmann of Adobe.
Apply the Warp Stabilizer effect to your clip. Then apply another effect, like Lens Correction UNDER/AFTER the Warp Stabilizer - and voila! It works. Make sure your other effect's settings are at zero so they don't do anything. You may have to re-analyze the clip or render it, but it works and I don't have to turn my GPU off.
