1. Re: Delay audio to speed loading?
Himanshu satija Nov 11, 2014 11:48 AM (in response to philcarlson)Hello Phil,
Welcome to Adobe Forums!
Can you please elaborate what exactly you are trying to achieve?
As the workflow which you have shared above can be achieved if we play with the preloader settings in Edit > Prefrences > Start and End .
For eg : If you set preloader % to be 30% browser will download 30% of your project and then it will start playing your project.
Hope this helps !
Thanks,
Himanshu

2. Re: Delay audio to speed loading?
philcarlson Nov 11, 2014 12:00 PM (in response to Himanshu satija)I want my projects to load quickly. I am putting in slide audio. I understand from other forum posts (Re: Module takes ages to load) that it is helpful to add a brief delay before each slide audio starts. Otherwise, Captivate will download ALL the audio in one file, regardless of what the preloader is set at. At least, that seemed to be the suggestion a couple of years ago.
I'm wondering if this was addressed at some point and I don't have to worry about delaying the slide audio on each slide.

Try setting the preloader to 0% and see if that makes any difference or not.
Thanks

philcarlson Nov 11, 2014 12:15 PM (in response to Himanshu satija)When I'm developing slides, do I still need to move the audio over slightly or can I stop doing that?

Himanshu satija Nov 11, 2014 12:18 PM (in response to philcarlson)Hello Phil,
I dont think it will make any difference .
When you link any audio with your project it becomes part of your project . So it wont make ay difference if you adjust it anywhere in the timeline.
Thanks,
Himanshu

6. Re: Delay audio to speed loading?
RodWard Nov 11, 2014 4:35 PM (in response to Himanshu satija)Just do it Phil. Himanshu is referring to something entirely different. He's talking about preloaders and how they help your content to begin playing faster.
Your question relates to Captivate's tendency to 'stitch' all of the slide audio clips together if the audio on those slides starts right at the beginning of the slide.
I've not seen any indication from Adobe that this behaviour has changed in recent versions. So just do it anyway to avoid issues.
