Users can't leave reviews on Add On

I'm the producer of an Illustrator plugin, users are reporting that they can't leave a review for my extension.

"When I press the Submit button, it changes it’s click state, but never actually does anything."

We have tested this and could not find any problems.

Users must click on a rating before they can leave a review. Perhaps that was the problem in this case.

Just to add that a user must have acquired the extension in order to review it. The thinking being that you cannot accurately review a product you have not used. It caused a lot of problems on Exchange Classic when anyone could review anything even without ever having used it.

I would like to leave a review for some of the products that I have purchased. I have bought most of my add-ons directly from the developers website. Since I do own and use the product, how would I add these to my list.. which is currently empty. At the bottom of the reviews it states " I would like to leave a review for some of the products that I have purchased. I have bought most of my add-ons directly from the developers website. Since I do own and use the product, how would I add these to my list.. which is currently empty. The section on reviews for the product I own states at the bottom.. "There are no reviews currently available. Purchase the product to review it."

Can you add a review only if you have purchased it through the Adobe Add-on mechanism, or is there a remedy for this.

              Thanks,

              Doug

                Hi Doug,

In order to review a product that's on the Add-ons website you must have acquired it from the Add-ons website. We decided to do it this way so that feedback could be left against a particular version of a product and also to prevent 'cheating the system' by adding reviews of products that people had never acquired just to boost ratings. I realise this system may not be ideal for everyone but it helps to make it fairer and more accurate.

                Best,

                Jonathan

                  Hi Jonathan,

Couldn't there be a way to prove that we own and use the add-ons.. possibly through the developer? I go to the add-ons to browse and read some reviews, which there are currently not that many of for the products that I own which are considerable. If there were a way for the developer to help change this, do you think that Adobe would consider altering this, as ultimately it would serve the customer? It seems like the Apple template, which the exception that many of us had purchased these add-ons prior to the Adobe Add-on service.. and the developers do not seem to have a mechanism for directing their sales through your system. It is a shame to lose the perspective of so many users, providing that they are legitimate owners. I have opted in to the complete Adobe Cloud subscription services ( over a year now ), and would like to see this addressed in some way, if possible, to enhance the add-on service as a serious user.

                  Cheers,

                  Doug

                    Hi Doug,

While I appreciate what you are asking for and think it's noble, I can't think of an easy way to match a purchase you made outside Add-ons to a purchase made elsewhere which may or may not be from the developer's own website. What I would suggest is if you like a product, email the producer let them know what you think and why. The producer can then add that comment or part of your comment in their product description or address an issue if there is a problem. Based on what you are proposing I think users would need to provide a proof of purchase, which we would need to manually vet for authenticity and I question whether many customers would want to do this. Having said all that, I think reviews are very powerful and a great mechanism for decisions and feedback. We have a lot more opportunity to improve in this area. In the mean time, if you do acquire a product via the Add-ons website, please do leave feedback and if you did not get it from Add-ons, perhaps spend a moment to send the developer an email. They love to get feedback, good and bad.

Hope that helps and thanks for using Creative Cloud Complete. Remember it's still early days for Add-ons and any suggestions are useful to us.

                    Thanks,

Would it be possible to discount the Add-On to $0 for a certain list of email addresses.

Then they could download the one listed on the Add-Ons site for free and review it.

This would also allow people to bring their old userbase (who purchased the download through a different system) into the Add-Ons system, complete with updates, etc.

Yes what you are asking for is possible with caveats. The way you can provide a product free to users is with private sharing, From the Groups section of the Adobe Exchange Producer portal enter their email addresses. The user must then accept the invite and they will then see the product inside My Add-ons only (it is never shown on the public storefront as it is private). The caveat is that you cannot have two identical products in Adobe Exchange (Add-ons). We do this for hopefully obvious reasons. et's say a producer created a product called 'Best Add-on', we do not want another producer coming along with another product with the same name. So depending on if you are creating a zxp file or submitting via our Packager you will need to name this product differently (maybe with Private in the title) but it must have it's own unique ID, that way we can also track updates for it.

Hope that helps and makes sense.

Another option which should be available in the not-too-distant future is support for coupons - with this, it will be possible to distribute coupon codes so that old customers can acquire your paid products for free using Add-ons.

This functionality isn't released yet, but it may be another good way of doing what you need.
