why RAW converter 6.5 not uploading in my PSE 9?

Hi,
I have a camera Canon T3i and am using PSE 9 to work on my photo's. Recently I bought an iMac and uploaded my PSE 9 and the CR2 (RAW) files are not able to be read. It right away makes my photo's JPEG's. I uploaded the RAW converter 6.5 for PSE 9 as suggested by the Adobe page. When I look at where my 6.5 download went to, its sitting in a "downloads" folder in my hard drive...do I need to move this to another location for it to upload into PSE 9?

When I look for upgrades in my PSE 9 program itself it tries to upload the 6.5, but it says there was an error in downloading the update. I have tried to uninstall PSE 9 and re-install it twice now, and the RAW converter version is still 6.1 in my PSE 9.

Help please?? I have been working on this literally for days..without much luck.

You need to run the installer for the camera raw 6.5 plugin you downloaded.
Adobe - Photoshop Elements : For Macintosh : Camera Raw 6.5 update for Elements 9

Double click on the Elements9CameraRaw-6.5-mul-AdobeUpdate.dmg and then double click on the AdobePatchInstaller

I was able to download the RAW converter!! thank you!!
The only thing that still won't update is the update for PSE itself...which i am not sure what that is.

I don't think it's important for PSE9. It was for a problem with graphic tablets or something like this.
I am not a Mac user, but I have read that Apple does not allow updating of programs bought from the Store?

Next time you have an installer you can right click on it and select Open and that bypasses the security settings set in the System Preferences.

For example, in your screenshot, right click on the AdobePatchInstaller.App, select Open and the next dialog click Open.
(you can also Control click on the installer to do the same thing)

Thank you. unfortunately, now my PSE9 will just shut down on me after a minute or two......any ideas why this may be?

I will open PSE up, and then when I start to go into "open" file to find a CR2 photo I want to work on, it shuts down the PSE 9 and this comes up: (see pic)

I just tried to open a JPEG and before I even had it chosen it already closed PSE...then I opened PSE again and this time it did let me choose a JPEG. Could it be the Yosemite not working well with the PSE 9?

Two things i'd try:

1. Delete the files listed here:

2. Go to Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility.app and Repair Disk Permissions

Then restart your mac and see if there is any difference when you try to open a file in pse 9.

I was told by Apple that as long as I hold in Shift key while opening the program it will act like a repair for the program itself. I did this, and it has not shut down on me yet....i'll keep you posted. I had gone out and bought PSE 13 this morning out of frustration, but then they got back to me before installing this. I may see how the PSE 9 does now. The thing is that the PSE13 reads (on back) that it will run on Mac OS v10.8 though 10.9...and of course Yosemite is v10.10....would this give any issues..?? I am not sure. Out of curiousity. would it give issues you think?

Glad to hear you got pse 9 working.

As far as i know, photoshop elements 13 should work fine on mac os x 10.10 Yosemite and you should be able to keep pse 9 installed as well, if you want.

One more question regarding importing my photo's from my camera...they still change to JPEG when I import them...is there a way to stop it from doing this and let it import as a CR2 file? It does this in iPhoto i believe...is there a way to upload differently? Or have iPhoto pull them up as CR2's??
