Import option greyed out - PES 12 downloaded from Mac Appstore

Hello, I apologise for repeating an often repeated problem, but the solutions in previous threads don't seem to work for me.

I've recently moved from PC to Mac so my understanding of the Mac is limited at the moment. I downloaded Elements 12 from the app store, which was a mistake, I really wanted 13, but didn't notice that it was 12. However on opening it I noticed that file > import was greyed out. Having looked at the forum it seems likely that I need the TWAIN plug-in and that I need to move it from one folder to another. The problem is (and it's probably my limited Mac knowledge that is causing this) that when I go to to the Elements folder on my hard drive it is listed as an application and not as folder with sub-folders, I'm guessing that this is because it's an app and not a download from Adobe as such. I have a Mac with OS 10.10 and my scanner is an Epsom 4490 photo, the Mac recognises the scanner and I can get scans in to Elements using the long winded open scanner option.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Right click on the Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 application and select Show Package Contents and see if you see the Twain.plugin in there.

Thanks very much, now found the Twain plug-in, unfortunately following the instructions from other threads I still can't copy it to the right folder. When I try, it just hangs and won't move. I've tried moving the plug-in itself and the folder it is in, with no luck.

Does it work if you right click on the Twain.plugin and select Copy

Then open the folder Plug-ins and right click and Paste

You will have to authenticate with OS X to do this. Are you not seeing a window telling you it can't be moved and giving the option to authenticate and override that? You should.

R_Kelly tried everything to copy/move it etc including the right click, but it won't move
Barbara B I'm asked for my password before with it saying Finder wants to make changes, but nothing about authenticating, then a little box saying 0 of 27 kbs appears and stays. I've attached a screenshot.

That's not quite right. You want to copy the ImportModules folder (with the plugin inside) to support files>plugins.

There is no folder called Plugins anywhere within the application, I did make one in Support Files but when I copied the Import Modules folder into it exactly the same thing happens.

I totally don't understand that. It's true that I don't have the app store version of PSE 12, but I do have the regular version of PSE 12 and the App Store version of PSE 11 and both have both an Optional Plugins and a regular Plugins folder.

Hmm, now that I think about it, I don't understand why you have a support files folder. This is the online download from the mac app store? That actually usually doesn't have the support files folder because there's no need for it, since there's no welcome screen or uninstaller. In PSE 11/app store this the entire top level of the contents folder you see after right clicking and choosing show contents:

Can you post a screenshot in column view so we can see the full file path for where you are in the shot in your previous post?
