1. Re: I had a very old copy of elements. Now, with LR, I'm totally lost. Did I make the wrong purchase?
JimHess Nov 13, 2014 7:54 AM (in response to ruralrich)Lightroom works a lot differently than Photoshop Elements. But in my opinion it is a lot more efficient for many things. However, there are some things that Lightroom cannot do, such as create panorama images, move objects within an image, and other tasks that require pixel manipulation. So Photoshop Elements can be used as an external editor to help you accomplish the tasks that Lightroom is not designed for. The two programs working together can provide you with a good workflow. How old is your Photoshop Elements?
To help you understand what Lightroom is all about, I suggest you take a look at the following set of videos:

dj_paige Nov 13, 2014 8:08 AM (in response to ruralrich)Yes, definitely look at those tutorial videos, and also Lightroom 5 - Free Quick Start Guide PDF eBook | The Lightroom Queen
Does LR have the same functions and features that elements had?
These are not the same programs ... so ... of course, there are some features in Elements that are not in Lightroom (otherwise, if all of the features were the same, they would have named Lightroom "Photoshop Elements") ... could you tell us what features of Elements are of primary interest to you?

ruralrich Nov 15, 2014 5:19 AM (in response to dj_paige)Thank-you so much for the reply. The version of Photoshop I have is probably over 10 years old. It served my purposes, and I saw no need to upgrade. Now, I wish I had. Though I'm fossil like old, I'm still willing to try new things, which from your answer, LR is. Again, thanks for the reply. I truly appreciated it.
