    jpegs won't open

I've been using an old version of Photoshop for ages. No problems.
Lately some specific jpeg images won't open in Photoshop. Get message along the lines of "invalid marker found".

The images don't have any unusual name:  image.jpeg

      I'm working on a PC.

I'm wondering if there is a work around for this issue. I've tried everything I can think of.

          Good day!

"invalid marker found" might indicate that the images have been corrupted.

Can you open the jpg files in another image editor/previewing application)?

Which exact version of Photoshop do you use?

          Regards,

The images will open in programs like Windows photo viewer.  I tried dragging them from there into Photoshop without success or re-copying them.

I haven't really tried any other application.

I did try removing: "Hide extensions for known file types" in folder options (something that was suggested on another Adobe posting). That did nothing.

            This is old Photoshop 5.5
