Jacob Bugge Nov 22, 2014 9:26 AM (in response to salvispade)salvispade,
For a sketchy look, you may use Image Trace, then expand and get rid of the rest.
Or you may use the Pen Tool or other suitable tool to recreate, on top of the locked image.

salvispade Nov 22, 2014 9:48 AM (in response to Jacob Bugge)I tried doing that just now, but it just made it made it black and expanding it didn't do anything. Any other suggestions?

Monika Gause Nov 22, 2014 10:16 AM (in response to salvispade)You need to prepare that image in an image editing software like Photoshop.
Try and isolate the drawing from the concrete there. Then trace. Illustrator won't be able to do a clean trace otherwise.
At least you will need to get higher contrast into the image (make the concrete darker), but I would try and actually separate colored from grey in an image editor rather than Illustrator.

Jan van Lennip Nov 22, 2014 10:56 AM (in response to salvispade)To get a better result than just the black white mess you explained, try other presets of the tracing function. I have tried several options and they turned out to be fine. I have used the trace presets next to the trace button in the toolbar on top of the artboard.

salvispade Nov 22, 2014 11:03 AM (in response to Jan van Lennip)Yes I tried all of them but I guess because of the close texture they wouldn't separate. Thanks again.
