1. Re: Lightroom 5.7 update not working
99jon Nov 23, 2014 3:04 PM (in response to fargois)Are you updating from within the Lightroom application using the Help menu?
If so try the direct download.

2. Re: Lightroom 5.7 update not working
fargois Nov 23, 2014 3:33 PM (in response to 99jon)Tried both with the same identical result. It does bother me that the Norton does not recognize the file signature, that is why I went directly to the adobe site to dl, but as I mentioned, same result.

3. Re: Lightroom 5.7 update not working
99jon Nov 23, 2014 3:48 PM (in response to fargois)Try moving the download package to the desktop or another folder like documents or pictures. Then try unzipping (extract files) and run setup again from that location.
I updated to 5.7 this week without any problem.

5. Re: Lightroom 5.7 update not working
The EOS Kid Dec 1, 2014 2:59 AM (in response to fargois)Did anybody find a solution to this issue, as I am experiencing exactly the same problem.
I'm running a Windows 7, service pack 1 set up, logged in as Administrator, with full permissions. It doesn't seem to matter where you ask it to save the extracted files to, it falls over at the same point. It gets to 50% and gives the message in the original post. It seems to fall over when it tries to extract the setup64.exe file and never completes it. Hard disk space is not an issue as the disk is barely a quarter full. I've tried downloading Lightroom from teh Adobe site several times now, all with the same result.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Phil

6. Re: Lightroom 5.7 update not working
99jon Dec 1, 2014 4:41 AM (in response to The EOS Kid)Try right-clicking on the unzipped application either setup or any other application file and choosing properties. Choose the general tab and ensure it is not being blocked “from an unknown source”
If it is, you can choose to unblock.

7. Re: Lightroom 5.7 update not working
fargois Dec 1, 2014 10:10 AM (in response to fargois)Tried this also, the file was blocked, I unblocked it as suggested but it still fails to unpack with the same error msg - A problem occurred while extracting some files. Check available space on your computer and the write privileges on the destination folder. Please note two things that my original msg states. 1.) system tells me that the signature is not valid and 2.) the error seems to tell me that the issue happens when the unpacking of the file occurs. I have tried the obvious as stated, re downloading, making certain that the file download is from the Adobe site, permissions are set properly and also tried downloading and executing it as administrator. All with the same results, wrong signature error and the problem error while unpacking as documented above. Can anyone, (maybe an Adobe tech?) help with a solution? Thanks in advance Tony

The only other suggestion is to try downloading using a different browser.

9. Re: Lightroom 5.7 update not working
fargois Dec 1, 2014 10:56 AM (in response to 99jon)I'll be darned. Don't know why, but that actually worked. Used Chrome and magically the downloads signature was fine and the install completed. Thanks for hanging in there with me, all the suggestions made sense to me except for the last one, and that was the one that actually worked. I just love working with computers. Thanks again for your help. Tony
