1. Re: Exporting Layers to individual files
will.e.eckerslyke Oct 13, 2009 9:28 AM (in response to Dreadbydawn)Can't speak for Elements 8, but in Elements 6 you can do it like this:
- Rt-click the layer and choose Duplicate Layer
- In the ensuing pop-up dialog, click the Destination Document drop-down list, choose New
- Type a name of your choice for the new document
- Click OK.
A new document is created containing the chosen layer. Click File -> Save As to save it to disk in whatever format you prefer.
Hoe that helps you find the equivalent for your version of PSE.

Dreadbydawn Oct 13, 2009 9:39 AM (in response to will.e.eckerslyke)I was hoping more for the ability to export all layers at once ala photoshop however this will do just fine.
Many thanks for your help

will.e.eckerslyke Oct 13, 2009 9:53 AM (in response to Dreadbydawn)RE ...ability to export all layers at once...
Just tried this, works OK in PSE 6:
- Click the first layer
- Press and hold down the Ctrl key and click the other layers you're interested in exporting - they should now all be selected
- Rt-click any of the selected layers and select Duplicate Layers, then follow the remaining steps of my first attempt.
Edit: Just found that you can use Shift-Click as well, to select a number of adjacent layers in one go.
[I'm learning new tricks here as well :-) ]

tko654321 Apr 14, 2012 8:55 AM (in response to Dreadbydawn)Thank you, thank you, thank you! This IS answered, because in Elements, there is no File/Scripts/Export Layers. The only way to do it is Duplicate a layer or layers and enter a New destination file.

R_Kelly Apr 14, 2012 3:10 PM (in response to tko654321)If you have pse 6 through pse 10, then this export layers to files script should work:
https://acrobat.com/#d=blJVJ4ZFfR7dRg24q-mBbQ
To install:
1. download and unzip
2. right click on the script and choose copy
3. navigate to the elements scripts folder
example path: (windows and sustitute your version for 8.0)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 8.0\Presets\Scripts
4. right click in a blank area and choose paste
5. start or restart elements and export layers to files should be listed under Files>Automation Tools

dpyellow Nov 23, 2014 7:37 AM (in response to R_Kelly)Hi, sorry to gravedig, but does anyone have the script posted above by R_Kelly? It would be really useful if anyone could direct me to it, as the link just redirects to the Acrobat page. Thanks.

MichelBParis Nov 23, 2014 9:41 AM (in response to dpyellow)R_Kelly will certainly come back when he is available.
It may be worth mentionning that the affordable add-on Elements+ provides a script for that.
