Flash for plug-in based browsers

When will you fix the installer so that I do not have to remember to remove the old version of Flash before installing the new version?  Most software installers automatically detect old versions and remove them when updating applications.

The Flash Player installer should automatically remove old versions when installing a new version.  If that does not happen on your system, can you post the contents of the FlashInstall.log file in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash

Since I did remove the old version of Flash and then retried the installation of the new version, I don't think the FlashInstall.log file will be meaningful.  I will bookmark this forum item and provide the FlashInstall.log file when the next version of Flash is released.

I just now tried to install Flash 16.0 r0 (16.0.0.235) on Windows 7.  The installation seemed to go okay and my browser says that I now have

File: NPSWF32_16_0_0_235.dll
Path: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32_16_0_0_235.dll
Version: 16.0.0.235
State: Enabled
Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0
However, the test at Adobe - Flash Player fails to show either the rotating Flash cube or my current version.  The contents of the FlashInstall.log file are as follows:

My recent experience trying to install Flash 17.0 r0 (17.0.0.134) without first removing Flash 16.0 r0 (16.0.0.305) was that my system became corrupt.  Thereafter, using the "Uninstall or change a program" at Programs and Features on the Windows Control Panel or Adobe's uninstall_flash_player.exe along with deleting C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed proved insufficient to obtain a good installation of ANY Flash version.

I had to resort to a manual cleanup of my Windows registry before I could revert to a good installation of Flash 16.0 r0 (16.0.0.305).  I then removed that installation and finally obtained a successful installation of Flash 17.0 r0 (17.0.0.134).

Again, I ask:  When will you fix the installer so that I do not have to remember to remove the old version of Flash before installing the new version?
