1. Re: Why have I been banned from the After Effects page on Facebook.
Todd_Kopriva Nov 22, 2014 5:03 PM (in response to DanielWallace)I don't see a Daniel Wallace listed among the users banned from the After Effects Facebook page.
How do you know that you were banned? What message did you get? What were you trying to do when the message appeared?

Peru Bob Nov 22, 2014 5:38 PM (in response to DanielWallace)I wonder if it might have been a spam or spoofed email?

DanielWallace Nov 22, 2014 6:18 PM (in response to Todd_Kopriva)Hi Todd,
Thanks for the quick reply. On Facebook, my name is slightly different - Daniel Walrus.
I didn't receive a message explicitly stating I was banned, although I am not able to comment, like or post anything to the page.Eg. http://puu.sh/d1IIP/b72251b072.png
I appreciate you taking the time to look into this for me.

Todd_Kopriva Nov 22, 2014 11:28 PM (in response to DanielWallace)Under that name, it looks like you were banned for spam. I've just reversed that, since it seems unlikely that an actual spammer would ask like you just did.

DanielWallace Nov 23, 2014 5:10 AM (in response to Todd_Kopriva)Hi Todd,
Thanks again for this.
(I assume it was originally some sort of mistake somewhere down the line).

6. Re: Why have I been banned from the After Effects page on Facebook.
Kevin-Monahan Nov 25, 2014 3:57 PM (in response to DanielWallace)Hi Daniel,
That was probably me. I moderate the After Effects Facebook page.
You probably didn't even realize it, but you may posting spam. If you are copy/pasting "Got AE Templates For FREE! Thanks! http://xxxxxxxxx.com Love the Design <3<3<3" from an "AE Free Templates" site to Facebook in order to receive a "free" template, you will probably have your post removed and potentially banned from the After Effects Facebook page.
This particular site in question operates in one of those gray areas that we don't feel comfortable partnering with, so I will continue to ban others that do so.
Thanks,
Kevin

Todd_Kopriva Nov 25, 2014 4:09 PM (in response to Kevin-Monahan)Thanks for the insight, Kevin.
The site that you are referring to isn't in a grey area; it is outright illegal. It contains materials that are pirated (stolen) from stock footage companies, and it encourages people to spam other websites as a condition of acquiring these stolen materials.

IMHO, people that actually fall for those "re-post this to win, d00d!!!" Facebook things pretty much fall below the requisite IQ to play on the Intardwebz. If only there was some way to actually enforce that...

9. Re: Why have I been banned from the After Effects page on Facebook.
DanielWallace Nov 26, 2014 2:04 PM (in response to jasonvp)Agreed.
(just to be clear though, I never fall for these. I maintain that the ban was a simple mistake )
