Which nVidia driver are you using on your Mac? The OEM one, or the nVidia Web Driver? If what I'm reading is correct, the nVidia Web Driver and the CUDA driver aren't compatible. The OEM driver and CUDA are. Which is just typical for the driver idiots at nVidia.

paucam01 Nov 1, 2014 7:49 PM (in response to jasonvp)Sorry I'm not well-versed on technical terms. Tell me if this is a correct explanation. I have pre-installed drivers on my Mac (I think it's the OEM one). Been using the CUDA before when I'm not yet on Yosemite. Also found a file, WebDriver-331.01.01f01.pkg, tried installing this and it said that this is not compatible with my Mac. So yes, I guess I'm using the OEM driver.

How do you know that CUDA isn't working? What are you seeing?

rberchin Nov 9, 2014 3:06 PM (in response to paucam01)I'm afraid I'm not having your difficulty. I'm running the Nvidia Web Driver 343.01.01f03 (it's the latest driver for Yosemite from the Nvidia web site. My CUDA version is 6.5.18. And I'm able to use CUDA or CL acceleration in Premiere CC 2014 and After Effects. That said, The CUDA preference pane is telling me that an update to the CUDA driver is required, however none is available. This has happened to me before; the CUDA driver update seems to lag the Nvidia driver update. However, as I said I'm quite able to work with the configuration I mentioned here. Once the CUDA driver update becomes available I'll install it.

Tystix33 Nov 17, 2014 10:53 AM (in response to paucam01)I have a user that is using a Quadro 4000 card and he's up to date on all of the the Nvidia drivers: Web driver is 343.01.01f03 and Cuda is 6.5.18 (also says it needs to update). He has been experiencing craching issues with Adobe Premier CC (also recently updated). any one else experiencing Adobe CC crashing?

Vinay Dwivedi Nov 17, 2014 11:15 AM (in response to paucam01)Hi paucam01,
Please go to Macintosh HD or startup drive>Library>Frameworks and delete the file CUDA.Framework. Then go to Apple menu>System Preferences> and right click on the CUDA preference pane and remove it.
Try to install CUDA drivers from CUDA Drivers for MAC Archive | NVIDIA
Restart the machine again and check again. Hope this helps.
Regards,
Vinay

rberchin Nov 17, 2014 3:44 PM (in response to Tystix33)6.5.18 is the latest CUDA driver. I hate to say this but the problem may be the 4000. Poorly engineered card for the MAC. I had a host of problems with that card; once I upgraded to a K5000 all my problems were solved. A pricey fix, I know. But I’m not experiencing any problems with PRCC2014 or AECC2014 with the same Nividia drivers and CUDA drivers you described.

rberchin Nov 17, 2014 3:52 PM (in response to rberchin)perhaps the suggestion to delete the framework and the preference will work, but the latest CUDA driver from the link provided is 6.5.18. And you're using the latest Nvidia driver also. I maintain the drivers thru the preference panes and I use the Web driver...I have no problems running Yosemite with either Premiere 2014 or AE 2014 using GPU acceleration (CL or CUDA). I say again, the problem may be the card...the 4000 was/is notorious for issues. I solved all my problems with a K5000, which was designed for the Mac from the ground up. Just a thought...

11. Re: Is CUDA not working on OSX Yosemite?
rberchin Nov 17, 2014 4:10 PM (in response to Tystix33)Well, I really hesitated sending it...id hate for someone to go out and buy a K5000 based just on my experience. But I will say that since I got rid of the 4000 and bit the bullet I haven't had a single issue. I did do a little research before I spent the money and I made sure to buy the card from someone like Amazon so I could return it if it didn't solve my problems. As I indicated it did solve ALL my problems...and this was before Yosemite....and I haven't had a single issue since.

Tystix33 Dec 1, 2014 10:44 AM (in response to rberchin)I appreciate your feed back and I had sent this info up the chain of command. Luckily they were hesitant on spending the money because 2 days after your post NVIDIA released an update to the CUDA Driver. It's now on 6.5.25 and it seems to be working much better now... I should say it's no longer using the Open GL drivers. We tested by exporting a video. That same video would take 25 minutes to export when we were on Mavericks using CUDA. After the upgrade to Yosemite it took 1hr 40min. Now it's taking ~40 minutes. Much better than the Open GL but still not the speeds we were seeing on Mavericks. We had issues with Premier Pro crashing while on Mavericks. I doubt this will help anyone reading this but if you're still on Mavericks and you're not having problems, stay there.

13. Re: Is CUDA not working on OSX Yosemite?
Kevin-Monahan Dec 1, 2014 12:49 PM (in response to Tystix33)Hi Tystix33,
Open GL?? Do you mean OpenCL? I see that some customers with NVIDIA cards sometimes need to be reset to CUDA from OpenCL if that's what you're referring to.
Thanks,
Kevin
